Apple Hasn’t Even Ordered iPhone 5 Parts Yet

The latest in iPhone 5 rumors comes from a Chinese supply chain. Macotakara.jp has claimed that Apple hasn't even started ordering components for its next gen iPhone.

We've already heard that the iPhone 5 probably won't be announced this June at WWDC, and that the release date could be pushed back to a fall 2011 date. If Apple hasn't ordered parts for the iPhone 5, there's almost no way that we'll see a new iPhone this year...

Will the iPhone 5 Have LTE?

Recent rumors have said that Apple won't be releasing the iPhone 5 at WWDC in June. TechCrunch reported that iOS 5's release will be pushed back to the fall, and that we won't see any hardware announcements from Apple this summer.

If this report is true, this year will look very different for Apple. The company's product cycle has always been fairly predictable, but circumstances surrounding the iPhone point to an unusual set of releases this year.

Specifically, consensus seems to be that LTE could be playing a role in Apple's decisions surrounding the next iPhone...

BlackBerry Messenger Coming in Less Than a Month?

Earlier this month it was revealed that the ridiculously popular (among BlackBerry users of course) BlackBerry Messenger would be making its way to iOS.

After the initial announcement, we haven't heard much of a peep from the folks at RIM about the app's progress, its release date, or any fears that their app might be outright rejected by the Apple.

Yesterday, a poster on the MacRumors forums claimed that the release date for BBM will be April 26th, less than a month away.

But wait, as iPhoneinCanada has pointed out, there might be more to this story than meets the eye...

iOS 5 to Have Deep Integration with Voice Search

We recently told you about the rumor that Apple won't unveil iOS 5 until later this fall. Apple announced the details about this year's WWDC event, and multiple sources are claiming that we won't see any hardware announcements from Apple this summer.

On the iOS 5 front, rumors suggest that Apple will be heavily integrating voice commands into the next major iteration of iOS. The focus looks to be on voice search, considering Apple bought a little voice search company called Siri one year ago...

iPhone 5 Probably Won’t Be Seen at WWDC This Summer

A series of new developments has shed some light on Apple's product roadmap for the coming year. First, we thought that Apple would be holding a media event in April for iOS 5 and MobileMe. TechCrunch followed up on those rumors by saying that iOS 5 would be pushed back to the fall, and that the iPhone 5 would be released this summer running a version of iOS 4.

Today, Apple announced the dates and information for their annual World Wide Develepors Conference this June. Apple's focus for WWDC this year will clearly be on software, and, unless they've got a big surprise up their sleeve, we probably won't see the iPhone 5 launch during the expected time frame...

Apple Could Sell 100 Million iPhone 5 if Trends Continue

Apple's products couldn't be hotter right now. Almost 3 weeks into selling the iPad 2, and the lines can still be seen outside of marquee Apple stores around the country. Even their rumored iPhone 5, which has yet to be made official, garners up to 1.5 million results from your favorite search engine.

What does all this mean? Apple had a record breaking 4Q last year; the holidays were very good to the Cupertino giant. Even 2011 Q1 results were impressive, and Apple doesn't show any signs of slowing down. In fact, if this report by asymco gives us any indication, it's quite the opposite...

Apple Patched Comex’s Exploit in iOS 4.3.1

The cat and mouse game between Apple and jailbreakers is getting intense. Apple got real serious when they added ASLR to iOS 4.3 and forced iDevice hackers back to their drawing boards. But members of the jailbreak community responded, and a tethered jailbreak was quickly made available with a patched mobile substrate file.

The latest move from Apple seems to be a big one. Comex tweeted about an hour ago that his kernel exploit was fixed in Apple's latest version of the firmware, iOS 4.3.1. It was public knowledge that i0n1c and other jailbreakers were specifically waiting for iOS 4.3.1 to be released to prevent something like this from happening...

iOS 5 Pushed Back to the Fall, Preview at WWDC

Some news has surfaced concerning iOS 5 and Apple's roadmap for the coming year. According to M.G. Siegler of TechCrunch, Apple is going to push back the release of iOS 5.0 to this fall, and the iPhone 5 will launch with a version of iOS 4.x.

Speculation has been that Apple would hold a media event next month for an iOS 5 preview and MobileMe revamp, but TechCrunch's sources claim otherwise...

Apple Patent Hints at Graphics Driven UI in Future iOS

For those not so familiar with the lingo, a patent basically gives an inventor exclusive rights to their invention. It prevents others from using your invention in their products. Patents are usually filed with the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office long before an idea makes its way onto the shelf.

The reason why Apple patents are so popular is that everyone from Wall Street to gadget blogs wants to know what Apple's next innovation is going to be. Although a lot of patents never reach consumer products, it still gives us a glimpse of what Apple is working on...

Revamped MobileMe to Include Music Locker Service, Cost $20 Per Year?

According to a report from The Music Void, Apple will be re-launching MobileMe this April, alongside a new, cloud-based music "locker." MobileMe will most likely be a free service, but The Music Void claims this new locker service will cost $20 a year.

The streaming locker service would have to tie into the iTunes backend, and users would be able to stream content between iDevices and the desktop. No specific details have been leaked about the locker in the sky, but The Music Void says Apple has already been hounding record labels for the rights to stream their content...
