Looks like Apple is taking iOS notifications to iCloud website

A new feature is being tested by Apple, according to reports, that allows iOS banner notifications to be displayed on the iCloud website. It's unknown whether this particular occurrence was only a one-time test or a sign of things to come.

While notifications on the iCloud website may prompt some to scratch their head, this could actually indicate Apple's plans to roll out rich web apps to iCloud that would benefit from the ability to display notifications, much like Google's Chrome lets web apps render unobtrusive notifications even when the browser is minimized...

Chip: a feature rich jailbreak tweak for customizing banner notifications

With entries like Vexillum and ColorBanner, there's no shortage of jailbreak tweaks that allow you to customize your notification banners in iOS 5. But neither of those are as deep and complete as Chip.

As simple as its name may make it seem, Chip is by far the deepest of the three tweaks mentioned. It allows you to customize banner notification background color, text color, border color, and gradient using simple RGB sliders.

Curiosa: receive notifications for new updates in Cydia

Wouldn't it be nice to have notifications whenever new Cydia updates are released? It's already been done once with Aptdate, but that's now been one-upped courtesy of Ryan Petrich's latest creation entitled Curiosa.

Like Aptdate, Curiosa provides you with banner notifications for new Cydia updates, but this tweak includes quite a few additional options as you'll notice from our video walkthrough...

Ever since we first saw the sneak preview of Ryan Petrich's CydiaBulletin, we've wanted something like it.

Now it looks like having notifications for Cydia updates is finally a reality, even if it's not exactly as Petrich had envisioned.

Aptdate is a new jailbreak tweak that will be soon available on Cydia, which provides banner notifications to alert you when there are updates in Cydia.

‘SpeakEvents’ makes boring push notifications come alive with voice

SpeakEvents is a jailbreak tweak that audibly speaks the contents of new messages, tweets, emails, etc.

I like to look at it as the opposite of Siri; actually it's the perfect complement to Siri, because instead of you talking to the iPhone, it's talking to you.

I know this sounds like a potential recipe for disaster, but SpeakEvents has the ability to go into quiet mode during designated times, and you can make it work on a per-app basis.

MissedReminder: iOS 5-Style LED Flash Alerts for Missed Calls

Have you ever noticed on a BlackBerry that when there is a missed call or text, a tiny LED flashes to alert the user? That's certainly one feature I wish Apple would implement in future smartphone designs, as a missed call can go unnoticed for hours on the iPhone if it's not in use.

Apple halfway makes up for the missing feature in iOS 5 with the addition of LED Flash Alerts. The new option triggers the iPhone 4's camera flash to alert users of missed calls or text messages.
