Algoriddim launches djay Pro for Mac with 4-deck support, Spotify integration and more

German developer Algoriddim on Thursday completed its suite of apps for DJs by releasing djay Pro for Mac. Building on djay 2 for the iPhone and iPad, the Pro edition brings 4-deck support and the full power of Algoriddim's low-latency mixing engine.

The app has some rather advanced features such as Spotify and iTunes integration, support for professional DJ hardware, high-definition waveforms, audio effects, meta data and FX purchases from iOS versions of djay and much more.

Apple seeds Safari 8.0.3 beta for OS X Yosemite to developers

Apple seeded Safari 8.0.3 for Yosemite to developers on Wednesday, along with Safari 7.1.3 beta for Mavericks and Safari 6.2.3 for Mountain Lion. The new version of Safari joins the new OS X 10.10.2 beta that was released to developers last Friday.

Minecraft maker Mojang releases Scrolls for Mac

Available starting today for Mac and Windows PCs and Android tablets, Scrolls from Minecraft maker Mojang takes the best bits of collectable card games and combines them with the most interesting strategy elements of tactical war games.

More than two years in the making, the mash-up game invites you to build your army, develop strategies and take control of the hexagonal battlefield by defeating your friends in online multiplayer challenges, no matter which platform they’re playing on.

If you prefer playing alone, Scrolls have you covered with single player challenges along with casual play. A free demo version of Scrolls is available to try before you buy it.

Apple posts Safari updates for OS X Yosemite, Mavericks and Mountain Lion

After releasing then pulling a update for the desktop Safari browser on OS X last week, Apple on Thursday posted Safari 8.0.2 for Yosemite.

In addition to allowing Yosemite users to import username and passwords from Mozilla's Firefox browser, Safari 8.0.2 fixes a few annoying issues, among them history not syncing across devices if iCloud Drive is disabled and another one prevent a saved password from being autofilled after two devices are added to iCloud Keychain.

The update is available through the Mac App Store's Updates tab. A standalone installer should be available shortly from the Apple Support website. Safari 7.1.2 for OS X Mavericks and Safari 6.2.2 for OS X Mountain Lion were also released on Thursday.

Legendary Grim Fandango adventure has been remastered, coming to Mac in January

Grim Fandango, the legendary neo-noir adventure game that LucasArts released back in 1998 for Windows, with Tim Schafer as the game's project leader, is getting a thorough makeover soon. This classic dark comedy style game made history as the first LucasArts' adventure to use 3D computer graphics overlaid on pre-rendered backgrounds.

According to DoubleFine Productions, Tim Schaffer's publishing company established in July 2000 after his departure from LucasArts, the game will be launching next year on January 27 across the PlayStation 4, PlayStation Vita, PC, Mac and Linux.

Featuring revamped graphics optimized for today's high-resolution screens, Grim Fandango Remastered sticks to the original vision. The game takes place in an afterworld called the Land of the Dead, through which recently departed souls must travel before they reach their final destination, the Ninth Underworld.

Apple posts iTunes Best of 2014 charts

Like in years past, Apple ahead of the holidays published its list of the best and most popular apps, movies, TV shows, music and books available on iTunes. In the category of the top paid iPhone app, Heads Up! came in first. Facebook's Messenger is Apple's top free iPhone app and Clash of Clans emerged as the top grossing iPhone app, respectively. On the iPad side, Minecraft, YouTube and Clash of Clans have been rated as the App Store's top paid, free and grossing apps, respectively.

How to jailbreak iOS 8.1.1 or iOS 8.1.2 on Mac OS X using a virtual machine

As has been the norm as of late, OS X releases of the latest jailbreak tools have lagged behind their Windows counterparts. The TaiG jailbreak, which released to much surprise early this morning is no exception.

But what if you're an OS X only user who doesn't have access to a Windows machine? Are you left out in the cold waiting until TaiG decides to release an OS X version of its tool? Not necessarily.

Inside, I'll show you how easy it is to run a Windows virtual machine on OS X absolutely free of charge. Doing so will allow you to jailbreak iOS 8.1.2 even if you only have a Mac. Best of all, it's absolutely free to do so. Check out our video tutorial after the break for the full how-to.

Apple seeds second OS X 10.10.2 beta to developers

Apple has seeded the second beta of OS X Yosemite 10.10.2 this afternoon. The update, labeled build 14C78c, is available through the Update tab in the Mac App Store and the Dev Center for all registered Mac developers.

Today’s release comes a little more than two weeks after the first 10.10.2 beta, and Apple has asked developers to focus on Wi-Fi connectivity. Users have complained of Wi-Fi issues since updating to Yosemite in October.

Thermos lets you set your Nest thermostat temperature from OS X Notification Center

Thermos is a recently released Mac application that works hand in hand with Nest to allow you to set the temperature of your thermostat right from Notification Center. Additionally, and if you also have Nest Protect smoke detectors in your home, the app will be able to send you push notifications in case smoke or carbon monoxide has been detected by the devices.
