Make Your iPhone’s iPod Look Just Like Windows Phone 7 with Muzik

Awhile back, we showed you a jailbreak theme called "OS7" that replicated Windows Phone 7's interface on the iPhone. Some of you installed the theme and played around with it. The theme's attention to detail and resemblance to Windows Phone 7 was striking.

An app called Muzik, by Dr. Wilson Gaming, allows you to play your iPod music in the style of Windows Phone 7 and the Zune. Muzik recently received some major updates to make it a more formidable clone of the Zune experience.

If, for some reason, you want the ability to replicate the Zune interface on your iPhone, Muzik is about as good as it gets.

Geohot Has a Successful First Round of Donations for His Fight Against Sony

Geohot has updated his blog, "Geohot Got Sued" with the results from his first round of donations for his legal fight against Sony.

In case you missed it, Geohot is entering a legal battle with Sony because he cracked the DRM on the PS3. Sony claims that Geohot broke the law by jailbreaking the PS3, and they are seeking financial retribution for Geohot's exploit.

A few days ago, we posted that Geohot put a plea out to his followers asking for donations via PayPal to fund his legal fees for the upcoming trial with Sony. He has closed the first round of donations from over the weekend, and he made bank.

Geohot Asks For Support In Fighting Sony Lawsuit

George Hotz, or "Geohot," is a pioneer in the jailbreak community. He has been the mastermind behind many jailbreak projects, including LimeRa1n and BlackSn0w.

Geohot recently hacked Sony's Playstation 3 and essentially created the ability to "jailbreak" Sony's popular console. Even though it is legal to jailbreak the iPhone, it isn't legal to do the same to a Sony product. Sony took action and filed a lawsuit against Geohot on the basis that what he did "encourages piracy" on their platform.

Needless to say, Geohot is pissed. He is calling on the community and the media to help him in his legal fight against Sony...

WhiteD00r Brings iOS 4.2 To iPhone 2G/3G And iPod Touch 1G/2G

As many of you know, with the release of iOS 4.0 Apple discontinued support for the iPhone 2G as well as the iPod Touch 1G. This left iPhone 2G and iPod Touch 1G stuck on iOS 3.1.3 for life. Furthermore, while Apple did end up upgrading the iPhone 3G (which has the same amount of RAM/processor as the iPhone 2G), 3G owners experienced a great deal of problems after updating to 4.0. The OS was incredibly slow and was barely usable.

After various reports and angry iPhone 3G users, Apple began to look into the issue and stated the issues would be resolved in iOS 4.2.1. When iOS 4.2.1 came around, performance had been improved on the iPhone 3G, but it was still quite slow. Most users decided to downgrade/remain on iOS 3.1.3.

GreenPois0n RC 6.1 Released to Remedy iBooks Problems

As you may have heard, Apple is beginning to get petty with their fight against the jailbreak community.

The latest strategy taken on by Apple is to prevent you from reading the books you purchased on iBooks if it detects a jailbroken iPhone.

@Comex responded first with his hilariously named "Hunnypot" solution, and now the Chronic Dev team has followed suit with the release of GreenPois0n RC 6.1...

Firewall iP 2.0 Released in Cydia, A Security Center for the iPhone

Privacy on the iPhone has always been an interesting topic. Especially in the jailbreak scene, security precautions are taken very seriously.

Firewall iP recently received a major update in the Cydia store, and it boasts robust security options for your iPhone's network connections. While its features may seem daunting to those of us that aren't security aficionados, it's nice to see that there's a full-featured security suite for jailbreak users...

How to Get Around Apple’s iBooks Anti-Jailbreaking Measures

Yesterday I told you about Apple's efforts to thwart jailbreakers by blocking them from opening DRM enabled books in iBooks. Safe to say, that didn't go over well with you, or the rest of the jailbreak community.

Unsurprisingly, various work arounds were ordered and quickly achieved, and we'll discuss one of those fixes here; it's simple as all get out.

How to Update Cydia in the Background

If you're not the type to stick around while Cydia updates, then we have a solution for you. A few new additions have appeared recently in Cydia that will allow you to update the cache that Cydia uses without actually running the app.

There are a couple of apps that perform this duty, and both of them run as SBSettings toggles. This makes it pretty easy to update Cydia while you check your email and then quickly load up Cydia to get your updates and new packages.

Sn0wBreeze Jailbreak for iPhone 4.2.1 is Out

Looks like the main jailbreak devs talked to each other today to release their jailbreak tools altogether around the same time. About an hour after the Dev Team announced the release of their PwnageTool jailbreak for iPhone 4.2.1, and now iH8Sn0w is releasing Sn0wBreeze 2.2.

Just like PwnageTool, Sn0wBreeze is a jailbreak tool that allows you to update your iPhone to the latest firmware, and jailbreak while preserving your baseband and your ability to unlock...

How to Jailbreak iPhone 4.2.1 with PwnageTool

The Dev Team just released PwnageTool 4.2, a jailbreak for iOS 4.2.1 for iPhone 3G, iPhone 3GS, and iPhone 4 (AT&T and Verizon), as well as the iPad, Apple TV, and iPod Touch 3G and 4G.

PwnageTool will allow you to jailbreak your iPhone on the latest iOS 4.2.1 while preserving its baseband, thus allowing you to unlock with UltraSn0w, assuming you are still on baseband 01.59.00.

This step by step guide will show you how to jailbreak your iPhone 4.2.1 with PwnageTool, a Mac-only jailbreak for iPhone...

Dev Team Releases PwnageTool Jailbreak for iPhone 4.2.1

The Dev Team just released an updated version of their famous Mac jailbreak, PwnageTool 4.2. This new version of PwnageTool allows you to update your iPhone to a newer firmware while preserving your baseband. PwnageTool is the only jailbreak tool to let you do that, even though there are manual ways to update while preserving the baseband using TinyUmbrella.

In short, PwnageTool is unlockers' favorite jailbreak as it allows to keep the unlock alive while still updating the iOS.

The Dev Team was able to make a few improvements to PwnageTool, notably a fix for the iBooks problem we reported this morning...

Apple Equips iBooks With Anti-Jailbreaking Measures

It looks like Apple is getting a bit more serious with the back and forth antics between it and the jailbreak community.

The latest casualty in the hacking war is iBooks, or more accurately, people that use iBooks.

Basically Apple has implemented anti-jailbreak measures in iBooks, and I have to admit, it's kind of sneaky the way they pulled it off.

How'd they do it? Check inside for the video evidence...
