Lockdown Pro now available in iPad, Lite versions

Lockdown Pro, the popular jailbreak tweak that allows you to password-protect individual apps and folders on your iPhone, was updated this week with some new features and improvements. It can now hide apps, and it feels much speedier.

But the big news is that in addition to the update, the developer has also released 3 new Lockdown Pro packages. There is now an iPad version of the tweak, as well as two free 'Lite' versions—one for the iPhone/iPod touch and one for the iPad...

Shake your device into Airplane mode with ‘Shake Air’

For some reason, Apple insists on keeping frequently used settings toggles buried deep within the Settings app. From the Lock screen, doing things like enabling/disabling Bluetooth or Wi-Fi take more than a few steps.

Activating a device's Airplane mode, however, is a bit easier, as it sits on the top level in the Settings app. But for those who still find the process to be a pain, we've got a new jailbreak package for you called Shake Air...

Over 14 million devices are running Cydia on iOS 6.x

The long-awaited iOS 6.x jailbreak, known as evasi0n, has been dubbed the most popular jailbreak ever. And rightly so. In its first 10 minutes, it was used by over 100,000 people. And 4 days later, that number grew to 7 million.

Today, nearly a month after evasi0n's release, there's a new statistic out. Evad3rs team member pod2g just passed along the news from Saurik that more than 14 million devices have now been seen running Cydia on iOS 6.x...

Planetbeing releases Signal 2, a Cydia app that maps out nearby cell towers

Planetbeing, known best for his work on the new evasi0n jailbreak, is also a developer of apps and tweaks. He helped write the popular IntelliScreenX tweak, and has an app called Signal, among other things.

And this afternoon, an update for Signal—aptly-named Signal 2—popped up in Cydia. Planetbeing announced its arrival on Twitter, saying that the new version now works with both CDMA and GSM devices.

TinyUmbrella updated with support for iOS 6.1.2

In light of Apple releasing iOS 6.1.2 last week, notcom has seeded a new version of his TinyUmbrella app. The popular SHSH blob-saving tool now supports all versions of iOS, excluding 6.1.3, which is still in beta.

That beta, though, is already causing waves in the jailbreak community. Evidence has been found in the firmware that Apple is patching evasi0n's exploits, which makes this TinyUmbrella extremely important...

DisableNCPlus lets you kill Notification Center on a per-app basis

How many times have you been swiping through a level of Infinity Blade, or Fruit Ninja, and accidentally pulled down the Notification Center? I know it happens enough to me to be a nuisance.

Well the good news is, for all of you jailbreakers out there, there are tweaks that allow you to disable the pull-down menu. And a new one just hit Cydia that actually lets you do it on a per-app basis...

‘LivePapers’ adds animated wallpaper to jailbroken devices

Looking to spice up your iPhone's Home screen and Lock screen? If so, then look no further than LivePapers, a recently released jailbreak app available on Cydia's BigBoss repo.

LivePapers allows you to enable animated wallpaper that you can display on both your Home screen and Lock screen. You can interact with the wallpaper on your Lock screen using taps, and configure settings for each of the custom wallpapers.

By itself, LivePapers isn't exactly a home run, but with the purchasable addons, the jailbreak app is tons of fun. Take a look inside as we go in depth with LivePapers, plus we'll talk about and demonstrate its purchasable addon packs.

PlanetBeing: evasi0n jailbreak likely killed in upcoming iOS 6.1.3 update

We knew that the fun wouldn't last forever, and it looks like the vulnerabilities used for the evasi0n jailbreak will be fixed in an upcoming iOS update. PlanetBeing, one of the founding members of the evad3rs team that brought us the long awaited iOS 6.x untethered jailbreak, reports that Apple has patched one of the five exploits that evasi0n uses to accomplish the jailbreak.

PlanetBeing, known as David Wang among close associates, briefly sat down with Forbes writer Andy Greenberg, and confirmed what everyone knew was inevitable. The evasi0n jailbreak will most likely be patched in iOS 6.1.3.

Why I uninstalled Auxo

I don't think I need to introduce Auxo, the jailbreak tweak that redefines the iOS app switcher, to anyone. We've been giving Auxo its fair share of love since we first exclusively previewed the tweak a few months ago. And for good reasons. Auxo is one of those beautifully designed tweaks that not only improves on the stock iOS experience, but does it in an incredibly elegant manner.

When evasi0n came out last month, Auxo was the third tweak I installed, right after biteSMS and Zephyr. The love affair with Auxo lasted all the way until yesterday when I came to realize that although delightfully crafted, the tweak just didn't do it for me. Let me explain…
