How to use the iPhone’s proximity sensor as an Activator gesture

ProximityActivator is a recently released tweak that adds a new proximity sensor gesture to your list of Activator gestures. This makes it possible to perform certain actions simply by waving your hand in front of your iPhone.

In the video example that follows, I'll show you how I can invoke the App Switcher by waving my hand in front of my iPhone 5's proximity sensor.

Upcoming Multiplexer jailbreak tweak looks incredible

Multiplexer is an upcoming multitasking jailbreak tweak from Elijah Frederickson and Andrew Abosh, the same developers that brought us the high-regarding multitasking tweak, ReachApp.

Building on the success of ReachApp, Multiplexer is actually six tweaks built into one. In fact, each of Multiplexer's features could probably stand on their own two feet—for example, ReachApp is a part of Multiplexer.

It's still very much a work-in-progress, but Frederickson and Abosh have teased Multiplexer's feature-set over the last week. I've been around jailbreaking for a long time, and this looks like it could possibly be one of the biggest and most ambitious releases that we've seen in quite some time.

Epicentre: a gorgeous new passcode interface for iOS

Finding the stock iOS passcode interface to be a bit boring? If so, then keep your eyes peeled for Epicentre, an upcoming jailbreak tweak that adds a gorgeous new interface to the passcode Lock screen.

Epicenter replaces the stock passcode interface with a beautifully animated setup that looks like it was inspired by a traditional rotary phone. It features a preference panel with several options for customizing the look and security of the passcode entry interface. Watch our full video preview to see how.

Alympus: a meticulously-designed App Switcher replacement with tons of character

Well-respected developer Kyle Howells, and renowned UI designer, Surenix, have teamed up for something special. Their new collaborative project, called Alympus, has just been released on Cydia, and it brings a completely redesigned App Switcher, Control Center, and Music Controls interface to iOS 8.

Alympus was teased this past Sunday, but that teaser was just that—a tease. In the video that follows, I'll break down all of Alympus' features. Once you see all of what Alympus has to offer, I think you'll agree that there's more than meets the eye.

New beta tweak helps clean up Cydia package descriptions

Well-known developer Majd Alfhaily just released a new beta tweak on his personal repo called Cyte. The tweak aims to clean up the descriptions for packages present in Cydia to make them look more consistent and appealing.

In my opinion, this is one of the biggest tweak opportunities present since Cydia opened up to Cydia Substrate extensions. A more consistent and cleaner looking Cydia when it comes to package depictions, would go a long way towards improving the experience.

A first look at the upcoming Alympus jailbreak tweak

Alympus is a brand new tweak by developer iKyle, and designer Surenix. It's been teased for the past week, but until today, we really had no idea what to expect. Would it be a new messaging tweak? A new theme? Or something else?

Today, we have a better idea of what Alympus entails. It seems to be an App Switcher replacement for iOS.

Surenix just posted a teaser Vine, which showed off some of the tweak's upcoming functionality. Needless to say, it looks really good. Have a look and tell us what you think...

LockPlus: an upcoming WYSIWYG Lock screen theme maker

One of the most difficult things that jailbreakers can do is put together a decent looking theme. Sure, all in one themes like Ayeris make it easy, but building a fully themed iPhone piece-by-piece is a little more challenging.

And then there's the fact that there are so many type of themes. There's SpringBoard themes, Lock screen themes, app-specific themes, etc. There's really a lot to plan out and think about when it comes to successfully theming a jailbroken iPhone.

Well, a new theming solution is aiming to change this—at least when it comes to theming the Lock screen. LockPlus is a soon-to-be-released theming solution created by @JunesiPhone and based on Cydget. It allows you to create full Lock screen themes using a simple WYSIWYG web editor.

Tweaks of the week: LyricForMusic, Dissident, ControlPane, and more

Although this week saw nothing quite as impactful as Cydia Impactor, it was still a fairly solid week for new jailbreak tweaks.

Among the new tweaks released in the past week was Dissident, a new true backgrounding tweak, and LyricForMusic, a tweak that makes it possible to display song lyrics from Apple Music.

Did you miss one of the sleeper hits that was released on Cydia in the last week? Check out our list of new tweaks and see for yourself.

Warning: Lock Saver Free tweak comes with a trojan

Talk about bad timing. Just after I posted about how jailbreaking was relatively safe, here comes news of a trojan that slipped through ModMyi's review process.

The tweak in question, Lock Saver Free, is a tweak that we featured in our new tweaks of the week video last night. Lock Saver Free was published by developer dmarinov, and is unfortunately still available for download on ModMyi as of this post.
