BioLockout lets you disable biometric authentication with an Activator gesture

Biometric authentication methods like Touch ID and Face ID come standard on most modern iPhones, and a new free jailbreak tweak called BioLockout by iOS developer ARX8x lets you take full control over when they can be used.

BioLockout takes advantage of Activator, so you can easily configure a gesture that toggles biometric authentication on or off on demand. You can set it up in the Settings app after installation:

How to downgrade your Apple TV 4 to tvOS 10.2.2, and whether you should

We reported yesterday on the release of nitoTV, the package manager for tvOS. Just like Cydia does on iOS, it allows for the installation of unsigned apps and tweaks on Apple TV 4 and 4K, and currently supports tvOS 9, 10.0-10.1 and 10.2.2. All of these firmwares have jailbreaks, but only one of them is still being signed by Apple, ready to be downgraded to and jailbroken. But is it that simple?

Parts of iBoot and SecureROM source code from iOS 9 leaked online

Matrix code hacked iPhone.

Bits and pieces of iBoot and Bootrom (SecureROM) source code from an iOS 9 build have been leaked to the public for specific devices via GitHub, and this has the potential to spell out good news for the jailbreak community.

For those who don’t already know, these software components help ensure that the iOS devices we use each and every day boot up securely. Exploiting these components of iOS can yield permanent jailbreaks for supported devices, which underscores the significance of this leak.

CoolStar updates APT, DPKG, and GNU for iOS 11, Cydia coming in future Electra beta

Electra quickly became one of the most popular ways to jailbreak iOS 11.0-.11.1.2, and while it hasn’t included Cydia since its initial release, that could all change very soon.

The primary reason we haven’t had Cydia on iOS 11 as of yet is that both it and its dependencies haven’t been updated to work on Apple’s latest operating system. On the other hand, CoolStar made significant strides in the right direction this week after upgrading APT, DPKG, and GNU with iOS 11 support.

Veteran jailbreak tweak developer Carlos Perez, more colloquially known to the jailbreak community as CPDigitalDarkroom, made a substantial announcement via Twitter on Monday that he would make all of his paid jailbreak tweaks free and open source.

In a big thank you to the community for its support over the years, Perez also noted how making all his projects free and open source wasn’t a sign of his departure from jailbreaking. Instead, it was an attempt to inspire a new generation of jailbreak tweak developers.
