How to fix white app icons with Springtomize 2

Last month we showed you a way to fix your iDevice's white app icons after jailbreaking, but did you know that you can perform a similar fix with Springtomize 2?

Since most jailbreakers probably already have Springtomize 2 running on their device's, this is a very convenient method for cleaning up those annoying white app icons that rear their ugly heads post jailbreak.

The iOS 86 theme in action

A few weeks ago we brought you info on how to get the iOS 86 WinterBoard theme for the iPhone.

I think it's safe to say that the reaction to the theme was mixed, but perhaps that may change once you see it in action.

iOS 86 brings you a cell shaded looking theme similar to the classic Dreamcast game Jet Set Radio. Be sure to check out our previous coverage on iOS 86 if you're interested in trying it yourself.

Siri talks jailbreaking

Did you know that Siri is a jailbreaking expert? It's true, just have a look at this video.

Okay, so obviously there's more than meets the eye here. Siri is using AssistantExtensions, a jailbreak tweak that allows you to input various bits of knowledge into her "brain". Think Neo's "I know kung fu" quote from the Matrix for an idea of what it's like.

If you haven't read our post on AssistantExtensions we urge you to do so. It, along with the Jailbreak FAQ Add-on can be downloaded for free from Cydia's BigBoss repo.

How to use GPS navigation with Siri

Earlier today we brought you a report on AssistantLove — the new jailbreak tweak that allows you to play Spotify songs via Siri.

The tweak also has the ability to search and get directions and routes for 3rd party GPS apps, but unfortunately I wasn't able to get that working in my initial demo.

Now, with the help of the excellent free GPS app Waze, I can demo the integrated GPS navigation using Siri. I'm happy to report that it performs just as expected...

‘PictoKeyboard’ adds tons of new Unicode symbols to your iDevice

If you're one of those people that knows what U+F8FF means, or what Option+Shift+K does, then this post is for you. For those of you who aren't aware, U+F8FF is the Unicode address for the Apple logo  (on Apple devices) that you see on a lot of Twitter profiles, etc.

‘LowPowerBanner’ removes obtrusive low battery alerts in favor of banner notifications

I can't be the only one that thinks it's weird that Apple's still using those focus stealing low battery alerts, can I? I mean, doesn't it seem like Apple would have preferred to use iOS 5's new banner notifications instead?

Well, apparently I'm not the only one who feels that way, because a new tweak has been released in Cydia named LowPowerBanner, and it does just that...

‘AssistantLove’ integrates Spotify with Siri, GPS, and more

If you know me, you know I've been waiting on a way to integrate Spotify with Siri's voice search for a long time.

I'm happy to say that it's finally here. AssistantLove can launch your favorite songs on Spotify via Siri, theoretically giving you a seemingly infinite library of songs right at the command of your voice.

Not only that, but AssistantLove features GPS app integration with TomTom, Navigon, and other popular GPS apps, and that's not all...

‘Anti-Theft’ sounds an alarm when your iPhone is stolen

Afraid a thief might try to snag your iPhone while out an about? Well, don't look for Anti-Theft to help you. By the time you hear the alarm sounded by this jailbreak tweak, any such thief will be long gone.

Anti-Theft can, however, assist you in a small classroom or work environment. Maybe. Okay who are we kidding? If you're relying on a tweak like this to keep your iPhone secure, it's probably already gone by now.
