10 Jailbreak Apps for iPhone You Should Download Now

You might have noticed there's been quite a few new jailbreak apps that were released during the last weeks. While some of them are not much interesting, a number of them got my attention and have the potential to making in on our list of best jailbreak apps for iPhone.

In this post, I'll share with you 10 jailbreak applications available in Cydia that are worth downloading. If you haven't checked them out yet, I suggest you have a look at them:

How to Get Rid of the iPhone Spotlight Search

How often do you use the Spotlight search on your iPhone? If you're like me, you never ever use it. Even worse, I get annoyed by it as I often end up on the Spotlight screen while browsing through apps. No more of this!

NoSpot is a new application available in Cydia that will get rid of Spotlight by hiding it from your screen. It's easy, simple, and free!

Jailbreak App Lets You Use Your iPhone While It’s Syncing With iTunes

The jailbreak community is always exciting. There's always a new application in development soon to be released to an unsuspecting public. Today, Synchronicity takes the throne. It allows you to use your iPhone while it's currently synchronizing with iTunes. I'm not sure why Apple disables us by disallowing usage of devices during a sync. Personally, I think Apple should allow this function by default.

Extend Your iPhone Battery Life With Auto3G

Auto3G is a new jailbreak application that aims at extending your iPhone battery life by automatically turning off the 3G radio when you lock your iPhone, and automatically turning it back on when you slide to unlock.

This simple app allows you to always have the speed of 3G when you need it, without draining your battery when you're not using it. Auto3G will add a new icon to your springboard from which you can choose the 3G timeout settings.

This Might Be the Coolest iPhone Lockscreen Ever

I found this awesome lockscreen on Cydia yesterday, with a little help from AtomicMufin on Twitter. It's called TypoPhone 4 and it's basically a lockscreen theme that shows the time and date in large bold letters. It also contains this cool unlock slider. You can download it from Cydia and activate it with Winterboard.

To have it look exactly like the image above, you'll also need to download Lockscreen Clock Hide from Cydia, which like the name suggests, hides the clock on your iPhone.

I think that's an awesome mod and it is without a doubt the coolest iPhone lockscreen I've seen so far. Now this thing just needs a little bit of colors to make it perfect.

What do you guys think? You like it?

Jailbreak Mod Supposedly Boosts Your iPhone Volume

There is a new jailbreak app available called Volume Booster 4.0 that supposedly boosts up the volume of your iPhone. I say "supposedly" because it didn't work for me, although I tried on 2 different iPhones. Maybe you'll be more successful than I was...

After downloading Volume Booster from Cydia, you have to go an activate it in WinterBoard, just like you would activate a theme. You won't see any icon or options in the settings.app.

SwitcherPlus Brings Your iPhone App Switcher to the Lockscreen

SwitcherPlus is a new jailbreak application that brings your iPhone app switcher to the lockscreen. I have been trying it, and while it's still in beta, I find it very stable. As a matter of fact, I haven't had any issue at all with SwitcherPlus since I installed it.

When on your lockscreen, simply double tap the home button and the switcher will show up. You can choose to add some favorites to the switcher. These favorites will always be the first 4 apps that will appear in your switcher no matter what.

Activate FaceTime on Unofficial Carriers with MiTime

Those of you who purchased an iPhone 4 and are using it on an unofficial carrier were not able to activate FaceTime. There is now a fix for this. It's called MiTime and from what I read, it's working well.

MiTime is an app/service for activating FaceTime on phones that are operating on unofficial carriers. It should work worldwide and will use two text messages to activate. You must be able to receive an international SMS message to get activated (see here if you can receive international SMS).

Call InfoFields App Gives More Info About Who’s Calling You

Call InfoFields is a new mod that lets you add an extra contact field of your choice to be shown when you are receiving a call, (ie. Job Title, Email, URL, Address or any other field of the contact that is calling you).

To set it up, just go in the settings and select what additional field of information you would like to display when you receive a call (ie. birthday, URL, job title of the contact, etc...). Obviously this information needs to be populated by you for each contact to be displayed on your phone.

New Jailbreak App Announces Who’s Calling You

CallTell is a new jailbreak app that will tell you who's calling before your phone starts ringing. If the person who's calling is in your contacts, it will just say his name. How cool is that? The app also works with text messages and can go as far as reading the text message to you!

CallTell only works on the iPhone 3GS and the iPhone 4. All options can be enabled/disabled within the Settings.app.

You can download CallTell from Cydia for $1.99. Tell us what you think about this app if you download it.

Spice Up Your iPhone Background Image With Video Wallpapers

There is a new mod in town. Its name is vWallpaper and it's an awesome jailbreak app that will bring video wallpaper to your iPhone homescreen. Redmond Pie has a video of it in action and I have to admit it's pretty impressive.

vWallpaper comes pre-loaded with a few video wallpapers but you can also download some new ones from within the application. Really neat!

Multifl0w Brings Awesome Multitasking to the iPhone

We've talked about Multifl0w before, one the first jailbreak apps to give a multitasking UI to the iPhone. At the time, I wasn't really a fan because I thought that ProSwitcher was a much better application. Things have changed a lot since then. Apple developed their own multitasking feature, and ProSwitcher was left for dead by its developer who recently said he will not update it.
