Jailbreak App Adds Extra Control Volume to Your App Switcher

This is a boring day for the jailbreak community. After checking out the somewhat useless EZDecline this morning, we're now having a quick look at App Switcher Volume, a new jailbreak application that adds a volume slider to the "now playing" bar of your app switcher.

That's all it does and really, for $0.99, I sure hope it does it well...

Does that look interesting enough to download?

This Jailbreak App Let’s You Easily Decline Phone Calls

EZDecline is a new jailbreak app that let's you easily decline phone calls. If your phone is locked and you receive a phone call, the only thing that will show on your screen is the "Slide to Answer" option. EZDecline tweaks that a bit by adding the buttons to "Decline" or "Answer".

Priced at $0.99, I don't find this mod much useful because this feature is already available under a different form on your iPhone...

Can’t Quit Apps with the Home Button? This Might Be Why.

Everything was pretty smooth for a while on my 4.1 jailbroken device, but then it happened. I tapped the Home button to quit an app and nothing happened. I double tapped it, and the switcher popped up. Another double tap and it retreated. Another single tap, but my open app stayed open.

If this happened to you, most likely the problem is with the latest version of Notified Pro.  I did some research, and uninstalled Notified Pro via Cydia. After a reboot, the problem was gone. Just in case, I re-installed it. Within half an hour, the problem was back, and I couldn't quit apps without using the SBSettings Close Button.

I removed Notified Pro again, and problem solved. If you can't live without Notified Pro, check this out. Hope this helps some of you out there.  Anyone else experience the same issue?

GV Extension Adds Native Google Voice SMS Functionality to the iPhone

Now that Google Voice is back on the iPhone (natively), many of us are using the app to send SMS messages. Still, since there is no real way to set an app as a default SMS handler, we found ourselves using both the SMS app and whichever GV app we found most useful.

No more! There's a new tweak in Cydia that merges the two. SMS GV Extension sets your Google Voice account as the default handler of text messages. Now when you send or receive text messages, it will be exclusively handled through the Google Voice API, and not your text messaging plan through your carrier.

For some of you, this is awesome.  But there is a huge limitation with this solution...

Elert – iPhone Email Notification

We all know one of the biggest gripes about the iPhone is the inefficient notification system, and this frustration is doubled in regards to email because you don't even get a pop-up message for incoming emails. You hear a ding, the badge number increases and that's it. Opening the mail app is the only way to see whether you just received another spam message, an email from mom, or an important business email.

What a waste of time, right? Thankfully there's Elert, a jailbreak app available in the Cydia store for $1.99 plus a short trial period. Elert pops up a small notification window in the lower right hand corner detailing the email's sender, subject, and a snippet of the first line. It also allows you to expand the window to view the entire email and reply, all without leaving the app you're in.

Watch Every Episode of Glee on Your iPhone

Are you a gleek? Do you want to be able to watch every episode of Glee directly on your iPhone for free? Well, there's a jailbreak app for that. Glee Mobile, available exclusively via Cydia lets you stream every episode of Glee to your iPhone, at absolutely no cost.

To be honest with you, I doubt this app really is legal but I'm sure the gleeks out there won't be discouraged by copyright infringements.

You can download Glee Mobile for free on Cydia.

Fast Copy Speeds Up Your iPhone’s Copy and Paste Functionality

Every so often, a tweak comes around that simply makes the iPhone better to use. Fast Copy is the type of tweak that falls perfectly into that category, taking basic iPhone functionality and improving it.

I must admit, I was a bit skeptical at first, because I thought that the iPhone's copy and paste abilities were fairly competent already. After using Fast Copy, though, I can safely say that the room for improvement has always existed, whether I perceived it, or not.

SkyF1re iPhone Browser Takes Minimalism to the Extreme

"A nice lightweight, quick little WebKit browser..." -- that's how the developer of the recently released SkyF1re Browser describes their iPhone browser for jailbroken iPhones. And while that's certainly an apt description, the browser is so incredibly lightweight, that it might just float away into utter obscurity.

Although one must keep in mind that this is version 1.0 of the app, I couldn't even get the address bar working on my iPhone.  No working address functionality on a browser? That's not a good thing.

Firmware Changer Will Fake Your iPhone Firmware Version Without Updating

Here's another interesting Cydia tweak! Firmware Changer can change your iPhone to iOS 4.1 (or any other one) without updating. Basically, it will not let you update to 4.1, but it will fake to be on 4.1 (or any other version you want to pretend to be on).

Why would you want change your firmware version? You can use it so that whenever your connect your device to your computer, iTunes will not show this annoying message asking you to update to the latest firmware...

iGotYa Lets You Know Who Stole Your iPhone

Do you want to know who's using your iPhone, stealing it, or just opening it up and snoop around on it? Well, iGotYa is your choice! iGotYa is a new tweak available in Cydia for $4.99, provided first by a few days of trial.

iGotYa enables you to protect your iPhone with an unlock password. If the unlock code entered is wrong 3 times in a row, then iGotYa will take a picture and get the location of your iPhone silently and send it to your email address...

RemindMeLater Puts the Snooze on Your iPhone Calendar Events

Well, surprise, surprise. Here we are with another infamous case of ‘why didn’t Apple think of that?’ In case #1,559, we’re presented with a handy-little jailbreak tweak by the name of RemindMeLater. Its sole purpose in life is to increase the productivity of your procrastination efforts.

In other words, RemindMeLater adds a handy snooze button to your calendar events. And while it's true that this feature is included in virtually every piece of calendar software known to man, this isn’t the first time that something so obvious has been left on Apple’s cutting room floor.

Would You Pay for a Cydia Pro Version?

Now that I'm running a jailbroken iDevice again, I find myself browsing the Cydia store once again.  With the A4 and more memory, Cydia seems a little bit snappier than my previous generation device, but it's still a slow experience.  It seems that no matter how much faster Cydia can get, viewing app descriptions will only be as fast as it takes for the sponsored ads to load.

I'm a little curious how much money the repo sites make from the ads in Cydia.  It can't be that much, because I've never clicked one; I've also seen devs commenting on how few people click the ads for their free tweaks.  But they're still there, so they must make something, right?
