First hands-on video comparison of gold iPhone 5S/5C/5 casing emerges

You've seen the supposed photos of the upcoming iPhone 5S’s chassis and watched a video depicting the scratch-resistance of the plastic iPhone 5C. Now what? Well, how about the ultimate video hands-on showing off the rumored gold/champagne iPhone 5S and a blue iPhone 5C variant next to an iPhone 5?

Your prayers have been listened to: you're in for a treat as one blogger has posted exactly such footage, and it's been making the rounds this morning...

Flurry of details about Apple’s upcoming iPhone trade-in program emerge

Bloomberg in June asserted that Apple was gearing up to launch a trade-in program for iPhones at its own retail stores. While the company has been accepting trade-ins through its Reuse and Recycle program for quite some time, this would mark the first time it's made trade-in offers first hand, via its rumored partnership with the recycling firm Brightstar.

More details have surface Monday on the long-expected initiative designed to allow would-be buyers to earn instant credit for their old iPhones as a way of driving upgrades to newer models. According to one source, Apple will refurbish traded-in iPhones and potentially resell them, while clearing up Genius Bar to focus on non-swappable devices.

Apple execs take a trip to Russia to improve iPhone distribution in the country

There's a trouble in Russia so Apple dispatched its high-ranked executives to revisit how the company sells iPhones in the country, according to a new report. There's no denying that Apple has dropped the ball in the important 143 million people market. As we told you recently, the last of Russia’s big-three carriers stopped selling the iPhone.

Russian carriers complain about too onerous conditions, leaving it up to resellers and Apple’s new Russia online store to meet demand. With the new iPhones now looming on the horizon, Apple is now reportedly re-thinking its strategy in the country. That's good news because Russia is part of BRIC (Brazil, Russia, India and China), a group of emerging markets that are expected to overtake the United States as the world's top smartphone sellers by 2018...

Rumor: iPhone 5C to come in at least 4 colors, graphite iPhone 5S shell shown

More details are trickling in regarding Apple's upcoming iPhone 5S revision and a brand new plastic iPhone 5C. An interesting confirmation concerning the devices's rumored colors has come to light Monday, independently via both a new batch of photographs that purportedly depict the iPhone 5S chassis and a post on the popular Chinese micro-blogging site.

Not only will the iPhone 5S be allegedly provided in the controversial new gold/champagne variant, but also in the stylish graphite finish - a first for the iPhone. As for the iPhone 5C, expect that device to be offered in at least four different colors, among them a deep greenish blue color...

Rumor: iPhone 5S’s A7 chip is 31% faster, has separate motion tracking core

According to sources who spoke with an anchor for Fox News Channel, the A7 chip expected to power Apple's iPhone 5S is "very fast," nearly a third faster than the A6 silicon ticking inside the current-generation iPhone 5. That's only half the story as the reporter has also heard there’s a separate chip inside the device devoted to motion tracking.

Oh, and a prominent blogger has independently heard claims that some of the internal iPhone 5S prototypes include a 64-bit flavor of the A7 chip. He's also learned a couple interesting tidbits concerning the rumored fingerprint sensor, the way it works and how it could lend itself to mobile payments integration...

Joy of Tech has hilarious ideas for new iPhones

Joy of Tech has weighed in on the iPhone 5S/5C memes. As per usual with their illustrations, the comic treads the fine line between poking fun and being downright hilarious. My favorite is their take on the rumored iPhone 5S in gold/champagne color: make it so the gold peels off revealing a layer of chocolate.

Oh, and the box should include the iGoose, a golden case that lays a golden iPhone and lets you recharge it by "stuffing the phone back up the goose's butt".

I'd hate spoil the fun for you prospective buyers so jump past the fold for the full table...

Patent struggles may keep this MagSafe-like headphone adapter from being made

I've always thought Apple's magnetic MagSafe power connector was an ingenious piece of tech. In fact, I was hoping to see them include it in the iPhone 5 and other iOS products. But obviously, that wish never materialized.

Designer Jon Patterson is still trying to make it happen, though, with the Pogo, a MagSafe-like magnetic connector for your iPhone. He's only using it for headphones right now, but he says it'll likely work for power cords too...

New photo shows iPhone 5C units in QA testing at Pegatron

A new photo surfaced earlier today, claiming to show a dozen or so iPhone 5C units in testing. Apple, like all electronics companies, requires its manufacturers to test small batches of its products for quality assurance purposes.

But between the company's notorious demand for secrecy, and the inability to confirm these are actually iPhones, we figured the handsets in the photo were more than likely knockoffs. But it turns out, they may be the real deal...

CBS Sports app updated with new Football GameTracker, Power Rankings and more

With this year's NFL season set to kickoff in less than two weeks, football fans will be happy to hear that CBS has just updated its Sports app with some significant improvements to help them keep track of all the action.

The update, which brings the client to version 6.1, includes a new feature called Football GameTracker, which offers live play-by-play data and current drive play chart. It also adds Power Rankings, Stat Leaders, and more...

Android a frequent favorite in discount stores – until iPhone 5C arrives

Discount shoppers are more apt to buy an Android smartphone than an Apple iPhone. Indeed, Android handsets are three times as likely to be sold through discounters such as Walmart and Costco than Apple's smartphone, new research indicates. The numbers are just the latest from Consumer Intelligence Research Partners (CIRP), providing insight into where and by whom Apple and Android devices are purchased...

New report claims iPhone 5S, 5C will launch in China on November 28

Apple's iPhone 5S and 5C won't be released in China until November 28, according to a new report. That would put it roughly two months behind the handsets' initial launch, which is expected to happen on Friday, September 20.

The reason for the delay is that the iPhones have apparently not completed the verification process required by China's Ministry of Industry and Information Technology. And it's not unusual—it happened last year with the iPhone 5...

New Microsoft ad touts Lumia 1020 camera, mocks iPhone users

My how the tables have turned. Five years ago Apple was running its 'I'm a Mac' ads, attacking the perceived weaknesses of PCs running Microsoft's Windows software. And now we have Microsoft making ads that attack Apple products.

The Redmond company's latest in a series of Cupertino-bashing commercials pits the 41MP camera of Nokia's Lumia 1020 against that on the iPhone 5. And as you can imagine, the spot paints iPhone users in a not-so-favorable light...
