Earlier today, leaked images of the original iPad prototype started making their way around the internet. The '035 mockups' depicted a significantly larger tablet that Apple is believed to have worked on between 2002 and 2004.

The United States Senator Charles Schumer is urging the U.S. Justice Department to drop its highly-publicized anti-trust lawsuit against Apple and e-book publishers over price fixing allegations because he reckons the suit could encourage Amazon to tighten its grip over the e-publishing industry.
Specifically, Schumer wrote in his column published by The Wall Street Journal that "the suit will restore Amazon to the dominant position atop the e-books market it occupied for years before competition arrived in the form of Apple". And if that happens, he warns, "consumers will be forced to accept whatever prices Amazon sets"...

Now you can, thanks to NetworkWorld which uncovered a deposition by Apple's design guru Jony Ive containing photos of a three dimensional mockup of a tablet that Apple produced as part of the discovery process some time between 2002 and 2004.
It's referred to as the 035 mockup and depicts a thick device made of plastic and without the physical home button. It's a far cry from today's iPad, but at the time must have been pretty futuristic. The nation's #2 carrier, AT&T Mobility, today announced shared data plans, in response to Verizon's shared data option which became available June 28. And just like the Big Red carrier's Share Everything plans, new plans from AT&T allow new and existing subscribers to share cellular data across smartphones, tablets and other devices, plus get unlimited talk and text.
According to a media release, current customers, including business users, won't be required to switch to the new plans. Should they decide to switch, they can do so without a contract extension. More importantly, AT&T says there will be no changes to its device upgrade policy...

NotiPad is an upcoming jailbreak tweak that promises to provide Growl like notifications on the iPad. The notifications that appear with NotiPad replace the standard banners present in iOS 5 and above.
Each notification can be tapped to launch its respective app (or double tapped, if you prefer to dismiss it). There are also options contained within the Settings app, that allow you to configure the animation style and switch the position of incoming notifications.

A German court ruled today that no, Motorola's Xoom tablet doesn't infringe upon the iPad's design, Dow Jones Newswire has it. As a result, Apple won't be able to ban the device across Europe, as it originally planned. It doesn't matter as the Xoom, an inaugural tablet running Android 3.0 Honeycomb, was introduced at CES in January 2011. The device barely passed the one million units mark and in the first quarter of 2012 sold just 100,000 units. The ruling also rejected Motorola's assertion that the iPad's design patent is invalid...
Barnes & Noble today introduced Nook for Web, a cloud platform that strives to make e-reading easier by providing browser access to electronic books without needing a download, a Nook account or a Nook device for that matter. The overdue move follows in footsteps of Amazon which last August introduced Kindle Cloud Reader, a service that lets you access Kindle books instantly in a web browser (works great on iPad), no Kindle device required.
