Luca Todesco’s jailbreak for iOS 10.1.1 is now in beta, and jailbreak tweak developers have started jumping on the train early to begin releasing tweaks for the updated software.
One of the first is a new free jailbreak tweak called StatusSwitcher, which adds the Status Bar to the App Switcher on iOS 10 devices.
The developer team at Crunchy Bagel has taken the wraps of HealthFace, a product designed to assist regulars of Apple’s Health app in monitoring their vital data on the fly. HealthFace is capable of reaching deep into your personal Health catalogue and displaying virtually any data point in form of a complication on your wrist.
For users constrained to keeping a close eye on their vitals, food intake or other health related parameters, the app sets out to become a quasi extension of Apple’s Health app.

But before anyone begins prancing around and laughing out loud with sheer unadulterated joy, there are some caveats to take note of, as well as some risks to discuss.

Apple has stopped signing iOS 10.1 and 10.1.1 on Tuesday in a move that's sure to choke the jailbreak community a little bit further. It's typical of Apple to follow this kind of behavior after a new firmware release, so it's not surprising this would happen as iOS 10.2 was released just over a week ago.
With the firmware no longer being signed, downgrades to iOS 10.1.1 are currently no longer possible, so if you've upgraded to iOS 10.2 recently or need to do a fresh restore of iOS 10.1.1 in iTunes, then you're out of luck.
Apple on Tuesday seeded to members of the Apple Developer Program a second beta of iOS 10.2 and a second beta of what would become the third major update to macOS Sierra. iOS 10.2.1 beta 2 (build 14D15) and macOS Sierra 10.12.3 beta 2 (build 16D17a) are now available to install over-the-air via Settings → General → Software Update on iOS devices and under the Mac App Store's Updates tab on the Mac.

iOS hacker tihmstar has announced the upcoming release of his tool Prometheus. And no, it doesn't steal fire from the gods for you to foster the burgeoning potential of your race. Instead, he claims it will be the first tool capable of upgrading and downgrading 64-bit iOS devices to unsigned firmwares. If successful, this would be welcome news for the jailbreak community, allowing movement between firmwares for which you have saved your blobs, even after Apple's signing windows have closed.
With the news of a possible upcoming jailbreak for iOS 10.1.1, the race is on for those who have already upgraded past it to downgrade before Apple closes the signing window on them and leaves them high and dry. This guide will walk you through how to return to iOS 10.1.1 from iOS 10.2 (or any other version you may be on, like iOS 9.3.3 or iOS 10.1) so that you will be safe and sound when the window closes, and can wait and see if this jailbreak hype comes true.
The other day I overheard a woman at the coffee shop spiritedly conversing on FaceTime with what I can only presume was her mother. The topic of discussion had been the daughter’s holiday trip, and her mom said something that struck a chord with me: why can’t you show me the photos on here? This got me thinking (at which point I stopped listening in, promised). Since its inception, FaceTime has received dreadfully little attention from Apple. The introduction of FaceTime Audio aside, the service practically makes for an absolute freeze-up in an otherwise constantly forward moving software environment.
As consumers, we have become used to companies spending more resources and time on pet projects of theirs and conversely less on comparably idle services, but what is astonishing is that this analogy does not explain the ongoing neglect of FaceTime. Because for all its faults and plainness, FaceTime is tremendously popular. For reasons only known to the Cupertino giant however, it does barely show in the application’s development. To add insult to injury, the lackluster state is likely to persist for yet another year until the next big software update for iOS rolls in. Never mind the fact this means forever in industry years, but it’s even worse because FaceTime is already adrift of the competition.
With that said, it is time for Apple to start play catch-up and resuscitate the service. Since the coffee shop encounter, I have been mulling over how Apple could ramp up the offering realistically in the near future. Here is what I believe is feasible and crucial for FaceTime to implement within the next year:
Hot on the heels of this week's announcements about upcoming iOS 8.4.1 and iOS 9.3.x jailbreaks, there have been stirrings today which suggest we may also see our first iOS 10 jailbreak soon. It must be noted that these are at present just statements of intent rather than concrete, but that being said, they are more encouraging than most that we have seen lately, and in my tentative opinion will result in something being released sooner rather than later.
