Jony Ive explains some of the secrets to Apple’s sauce

Jonathan Ive has made quite a name for himself over the past few years. And for good reason too. Apple's SVP of industrial design is largely responsible for creating the look and feel of several popular products, including the iPod and the iPhone.

The London-born designer has a reputation for being fairly quiet, and rarely does media interviews. So you can imagine our surprise when we found out that Mr. Ive recently opened up to the London Evening Standard about a broad range of topics...

‘FastCam’ lets you quickly access your iPhone’s camera interface

And you thought iOS 5.1's new Lock screen camera was fast? FastCam is an upcoming jailbreak tweak that allows you to access your iPhone's camera API using a simple Activator action.

The nice thing about FastCam is that it works anywhere, even at the Lock screen. In fact, it's faster than the Lock screen camera feature found on iOS 5, and still faster after the improvements made with iOS 5.1.

Rumor: 7-inch iPad to feature slim bezel display

Apple has been rumored to unveil a 7-inch iPad for years now, and we most recently heard the Kindle Fire competitor is set to launch sometime this fall. Earlier this month, leaked Samsung documents helped tighten up some of the rumors.

Here we go again: iOS users struggling with DST switchover

If you live in a part of the world which required a change to the clocks this weekend, then it may be worth checking all is well with your iOS devices because, according to isolated reports, some are once again struggling to behave as expected during the switchover.

We've been here plenty of times before, so we really shouldn't be surprised. Even so, Apple's inability to make something so simple work reliably is something we just can't help but marvel at.

They can cram more pixels into a 10-inch tablet than we care to count, but ask Apple to make a phone do something that computers have been doing for years and it apparently gets stumped...

People already in line for the new iPad

We're all excited to get our hands on the new iPad, and with less than a week to go until its release, there really isn't that long left to wait. In fact, it's probably time to start queuing for the few iPads that will be available in stores.

It seems someone else has had the same idea, and believe it or not, some people are already in line outside the Regent Street Apple Store in London, England.

Remember, there is still almost a week until release day...

How to install iPhoto on your first generation iPad

When Apple announced iPhoto for iOS at the press event for the new iPad, the company chose not to make the app compatible for the first generation device, leaving many customers out in the cold.

It is of course true that many original iPad owners may be looking to upgrade this year, but for those are still happy with their two-year-old devices, there is light at the end of the tunnel, with a relatively simple little hack allowing iPhoto to be installed on their devices. As is always the case though, there is a downside to proceedings.
