[iDB does not condone app piracy.] Have you ever been inside a peddler’s mall? It’s basically a huge consignment shop where different vendors come and sell their knick knacks under one roof.
People who have items to sell in a peddler’s mall pay the mall’s owner a percentage of their sales for the rights to sell in the store. People will come to the peddler’s mall to see what kind of deals they can find and to barter with the sellers.
In a way, the peddler’s mall is a lot like the App Store. And folks, people are shoplifting.
The iPhone has had “Voice Control” for quite awhile. And although many verbal commands are supported, the iPhone’s Voice Control still lacks the potential it could have.
You can already use Voice Control to make a call and play a song, but it’s a shame you can’t have more varied types of commands. Wouldn’t it be nice if you could use the iPhone’s native verbal recognition to look up a webpage or launch an app?
A new jailbreak tweak, by popular developer chpwn, will soon be released in Cydia. Its aim is to provide more customizability and functionality to the iPhone’s Voice Control…
There are plenty of fake iPhone knockoffs, like the HiPhone 4G. Apple has sued many manufacturers around the world for clearly cloning the iPhone or stealing some of its key features.

If you visit China, chances are you will find all the recent models of mobile phones cloned and selling at less than half their original prices. Because the iPhone’s appeal is at a global level, it is becoming increasingly difficult for Apple to crack down on all of these little companies overseas that are creating knockoff iPhone models.
The Sophone is by far the best iPhone 4 knockoff of 2010. It didn’t receive American coverage until late December, but the device has been a huge hit in China. It copies the iPhone 4 in almost every way imaginable. The way that the Sophone identically mirrors the iPhone 4 is unbelievable. You really have to see it to believe it…
Dev Team member MuscleNerd has recorded a video demon of their latest jailbreak for iOS 4.1 PwnageTool. The video showed an iPad being restored to a pre-jailbroken iOS 3.2.2.
PwnageTool is a jailbreak method that lets you update your iPhone to the latest iOS while preserving the baseband. This is particularly important if you’re looking to unlock your iPhone as there are currently no unlock available for the latest basebands and there probably won’t be at least until iOS 4.2 comes out in November…
It was bad enough that many of the exciting features that accompanied iOS 4 weren’t going to be added to the iPhone 3G. It was a whole different debacle when we reported that the device was basically crippled in many instances after making the upgrade. According to a demo by Life Hacker, iOS 4.1 works much smoother on the 2 year old device than the previous version. The site notes the following regarding their little experiment:
