PDF Patcher 2 Now in Cydia, Fixes JailbreakMe 3.0 Vulnerability

Now that you are finally able to hack Apple's latest tablet with JailbreakMe 3.0, what's your next move? For starters, you may want to consider closing that hole that Comex's exploit used to break into your iDevice. Think about this:

JailbreakMe 3.0 is extremely easy to use. You simply navigate to a website on your iDevice, and within a few screen taps you're jailbroken. But if Comex can design web software that can gain root-level access to your iDevice so easily, why couldn't someone else?

TryGpsOut: Turn Your Wi-Fi iPad into a Digital Map

The jailbreak community is responsible for a number of iDevice enhancements and innovations. Jailbreak developers are constantly giving our iDevices features that Apple for one reason or another has left out.

A perfect example is BTStack GPS. The utility allows you to connect an external GPS unit to your iPad to use with mapping software. Don't own an external GPS unit? The community's got you covered there too. A new app called TryGpsOut will allow you to use your iPhone instead...

SuperSlider: Launch Any Application with One Tap from Your Lock Screen

Over the last month or so we've seen several jailbreak utilities end up in the lock screen slider. First came FlashLock, and then CameraLock (both developed by Filippo Bigarella). These tweaks give you quick access to iPhone functions without having to unlock the device.

In the spirt of those 2 titles comes another tweak embedded into your lock screen slider. Like the aforementioned utilities, SuperSlider adds an icon to your slider to give you quick access to any application...

SBFader: Customized Fading Effect for Springboard Icons

If you are looking for something to take your mind off of the iPad 2 jailbreak leak everyone keeps talking about, I've got just the thing. A new utility has been released in Cydia that adds another cool customization option to your springboard.

Alexandros Melakis brings us this new tweak that enables you to set your icons to fade in and out when switching between springboard screens. The jailbreak developer says SBFader's purpose is to "Enhance your springboard experience..."

Celeste Bluetooth File Sharing App Updated

CocoaNuts, the developers behind popular Cydia tweaks such as Yourtube 2 and MarkRead, have after what has felt like an eternity, finally updated their latest bluetooth file sharing app Celeste to v1.0- 73.

Celeste was met with bitter reception after its initial release with a plethora of bugs found by users who had purchased it at its limited time launch price of $7.99. Although initial releases are expected to have bugs and faults, Celeste was in no shape to be released. It also didn't help that at the time, its dependency tweak ActionMenu was not updated for iOS 4.3 and wasn't reportedly playing nice with Celeste. It was broken.

Initial Twitter updates from the developers appeared promising but with its last update on Celeste's status on the 10th of April many users were left in the dark as to Celeste's future other than the promise that the tweak would be fixed "…very, very soon".

An update was finally pushed out of no where on June 13th, with no announcement of its release on the @CelesteSupport and @CocoaNuts Twitter feeds...

Glue: Jailbreak Tweak Lets You Share Text with Pastie From the Notes App

Pastie.org is a place where you can type or paste anything. There's no user names or profiles, what you type or paste gets placed in chronological order with the other entries. If you're a fan of the service, you're going to love this next jailbreak tweak. Glue enables you to paste content to Pastie.org directly from the iOS Notes application.

Now instead having to open up Safari or another 3rd party application to access the Pastie service, you can simply upload from your Notes app with a single tap. This could save frequent users quite a few steps...

Cydia 1.1.2 Released [Update: No It Hasn’t Been Released]

Update: As Saurik confirmed in the comments section, this is not an update and jailbreakers should stay away from Cydia 1.1.2.

Earlier today, Cydia 1.1.2 went live. We haven't noticed anything major in terms of improvements, however, the only ones we've seen so far are some slight enhancements with search functions, and an overall slight improvement in performance, as well as a few bug fixes.

There's no changelog present in this release either, so it's only a small update...

‘iScreenSaver’ Reveals Your Wallpaper as Your Screen Dims

Dan Zimmerman's latest entry into the TweakWeek daily challenge was uploaded yesterday. The jailbreak tweak is called iScreenSaver, and it puts a new spin on the old function.

Remember when custom screen savers on your desktop were cool? The effect never really made the transition to smart phones, as 3.5" screens don't typically need saving. But Zimmerman's tweak isn't your typical screen saver...

FakeLocation: Make Apps Believe You Are Anywhere

In reading through my RSS feeds this morning, I came across a jailbreak app that I couldn't believe hadn't ever covered on iDB. Though FakeLocation has been around for quite some time, it is a useful utility worth reminding folks about.

The package certainly lives up to its name, as it allows you to fake your GPS location for inquiring applications. This means that you can trick apps like Google Latitude into thinking you are located somewhere else...

RunningList: See a List of Your Open Apps on Your Spotlight Screen

Apple's implementation of multitasking in iOS 4 is undoubtedly one of the best in the business. Not necessarily in presentation, but in functionality. iOS' ability to maintain a high level of performance with dozens of apps open easily outperforms the competition.

The problem is, since you are able to have so many apps running without noticeable effects, sifting through your multitask bar can become a bit tedious. If you've been looking for an alternative way to browse your list of running applications, well, let me introduce you to RunningList...

VibLert: Make Your iPhone Vibrate for All Alerts

When you put your iPhone on silent, there are certain notifications that can go unnoticed if your iPhone is in your pocket or purse. Sure, your iPhone will vibrate for missed calls and messages, but that's about the extent of the option.

As part of the ongoing TweakWeek daily challenge, jailbreak developer Dan Zimmerman has released a utility to remedy this problem. VibLert enables the vibrating notification option for all applications...

MissedReminder: iOS 5-Style LED Flash Alerts for Missed Calls

Have you ever noticed on a BlackBerry that when there is a missed call or text, a tiny LED flashes to alert the user? That's certainly one feature I wish Apple would implement in future smartphone designs, as a missed call can go unnoticed for hours on the iPhone if it's not in use.

Apple halfway makes up for the missing feature in iOS 5 with the addition of LED Flash Alerts. The new option triggers the iPhone 4's camera flash to alert users of missed calls or text messages. For folks that can't wait until the fall to take advantage of the Flash Alert feature, here's MissedReminder...
