How to Fix Recording Errors in Display Recorder

Display Recorder is a wonderful jailbreak app by Ryan Petrich for creating a video recording of your iPhone's screen. Some users, however, have been having problems creating new recordings and have seen Error Code 0 or 2. As far as I can tell, the issue is related to the way that Display Recorder stores files in the file system to circumvent ASLR obstacles and the permissions that iTunes applies to them during backup restores.

It seems that the only users affected by these errors are those who recently restored from an iTunes backup or upgraded/downgraded their firmware. Luckily, the fix is pretty simple and can be done in under ten minutes...

WeeFacebook: View Status Updates in iOS 5 Notification Center

‘SwitcherSettings’ – Add SBSettings Toggles to the App Switcher

SBSettings is always the first tweak I install after jailbreaking. Even when it's not installed, I find myself swiping at the statusbar expecting a menu to drop. The simple utility gives me quick access to toggle Wi-Fi and Bluetooth settings, as well as a respring function.

Though I've yet to find anything in Cydia that matches the functionality of SBSettings, the competition is certainly heating up. JailbreakMe 3.0 Will Have Much Faster Install Time

Comex, the creator of the userland jailbreak known as JailbreakMe, has developed a method for a much faster install time in his upcoming jailbreak. He has managed to get rid of Cydia's "Reorganizing Filesystem" message by abandoning the current 'stashing' filesystem approach.

The advancements made in Comex's jailbreak are expected to drastically reduce the time it takes to actually jailbreak an iDevice.

While Cydia is a decent hub for all of the available jailbreak apps and utilities, there's no arguing that dealing with the clunky package installer can be a bit cumbersome at times.

For folks that weren't aware, you can manually install jailbreak apps and tweaks without ever opening Cydia. All you need is the .deb file of the package you want to install, and an FTP client like iPhone Explorer or Cyberduck.

In this tutorial, we will show you how to manually install a .deb file on your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch.

The iPhone's all-touchscreen design caused Apple to make some steep compromises. The device lacks physical buttons that can be found on the simplest of phones. Though the list is long, it seems like the omission of a physical camera and standard back button sit at the top.

Lucky for us, we have the bright minds of the jailbreak community to make up for iOS' shortcomings. Apps like Activator and FastSnap easily solve the first dilemma, and the new Cydia tweak, AppSlide, solves the second. Back button anyone?
