Rovio’s new ‘Jolly Jam’ puzzler now available in the App Store

Finnish video game developer Rovio released a new game for iOS and Android devices today entitled 'Jolly Jam.' It's a puzzler that looks nothing like the games from the firm's popular bird-flinging 'Angry Birds' franchise, and more like Candy Crush.

Unsurprisingly, Jolly Jam is a freemium title, which tasks you with strategically matching your jelly in a box to battle monsters and advance to the next level. All of this is part of an effort to help Prince Jam save Princess Honey and the Jelly Kingdom.

Facebook update allows you to add stickers to photos

Facebook today began rolling out a new feature to its mobile apps that will allow users to add stickers to their photos before uploading them. The functionality is similar to that in the "Stickered for Messenger" app the social network released back in December.

Users who have received the update should see a small icon at the bottom of each uploaded image, which you can tap to see all of the stickers you can use. After selecting a sticker, you can determine how big you want it and where it should be placed on your photo.

IFTTT rebrands iOS client, launches three dedicated task automation apps

IFTTT (an abbreviation of If This Than That), a popular Internet mashup service, announced in a blog post Thursday that its flagship mobile app shall be known henceforth as just “IF by IFTTT”. Available free in the App Store, it features an updated icon and a revamped new look.

In addition to it, the company has announced a trio of task focused ‘Do’ apps: Do Button, Do Camera and Do Note, each available free in the App Store.

With these dedicated apps, and more to come in the future, users can create specific on-demand workflows and tie them to buttons for quick one-tap access.

The full version of Duet Game by Melbourne, Australia-based Kumobius has just been slashed to zero bucks as Apple's latest free app of week. As you know, each Thursday App Store editors get to cherry-pick an app or a game that goes temporarily free for a week.

This twitch reflex title was on the App Store's Best of 2013 list and shouldn't be missed. Easy to play, hard to master, Duet elevates the act of dodging falling blocks into something “captivating, beautiful, even profound.”

OneNote for iPad gains handwriting, stylus support with palm rejection and OCR for images

After updating the Mac edition of OneNote with enhanced optical character recognition (OCR) features and other goodies yesterday, Microsoft on Thursday announced that users of OneNote for iPad can now extract text within all images that are added to notebooks saved on OneDrive.

In addition, the iPad application now has handwriting support, a top requested feature which permits users to highlight documents, scribble notes or just draw sketches with their finger. With this update, handwriting is now available in OneNote across all platforms.

Weather Underground launches a new storm tracker app

Weather Underground is at it again. The company that provides some of the most comprehensive data from more than 100,000 personal weather stations around the U.S. has just launched a new app to help you keep track of storms.

Aptly named Storm by Weather Underground, it includes a laundry list of features including weather layers, overlays and warnings. Plus, you can see alerts for severe weather warnings, lightning, and rainfall right on your Lock screen using the Notification Center widget.

Google releases Inbox app for iPad

You can now open shared links in Dropbox for iOS

Popular cloud-storage service Dropbox today announced it's refreshed its mobile app for iOS and Android with the much-appreciated ability to open shared links on the iPhone, iPad or Android tablets and smartphones.

In the past, sending someone a link to a shared Dropbox document meant firing up the web interface, but not anymore. Starting today, tapping on a shared link from your iOS device opens the file in the Dropbox app.

Not only does this give you rich previews for shared documents and photos, but also the ability to instantly save shared content to your Dropbox account.

This widget adds a phone dialer to Notification Center

YoBu is a Notification Center extension that allows you to search for contacts by name or number, and then call them right from the Today view on your Lock screen.

Apple rejects GIF Finder over Disney characters

Following its 2012 debut and 90,000 downloads later, GIF Finder for iOS is no more. As of now, the free app is no longer available in the App Store.

According to its UK-based developer Matt Cheetham, Apple took issue with the software, which takes the pain out of finding GIFs to reply with quickly on iOS, because it included “content or features that resemble various well-known, third-party marks, including Disney characters.”
