Tim Cook flies to Sun Valley, presumably exploring deals with media moguls

Apple's boss today made a surprise appearance at the Allen & Company Sun Valley Conference, an annual retreat, to attend a session called “Iran vs. Israel”, The New York Post reported. No one knew if he would put in an appearance and upon arriving he kept a low-key profile.

Apparently, Cook has lined up a bunch of powerful media executives for one-on-one meetings, looking to cut deals. After all, Apple is a media company (a powerful one, too) and it's been long-rumored that Cupertino's been persuading Hollywood moguls to provide premium programming for the mythical iTV...

Facebook releases SDK 3.0 Beta with iOS 6 integration

As it promised a few weeks ago, Facebook today has released a major iOS SDK update for developers. SDK 3.0 Beta is chock-full of features that will enable iOS developers to start taking advantage of Apple's newfound relationship with the social network.

During its WWDC keynote last month, Apple announced system-level Facebook integration into both Mac OS X and iOS 6. Not only does this give users an additional outlet to share content, but it also means there will soon be no more need for OAuth...

Amazon is keen on taking its Kindle Fire tablet beyond reading e-stuff, listening to music and watching movies and has today announced GameCircle, a brand new application programming interface (API) for developers, with social gaming features akin to Apple's Game Center on iOS devices (and soon Mountain Lion Macs). It's got the basics nailed, the stuff like leaderboards and achievements. Tomorrow's a big day for us gamers as two exciting releases are due to hit the iOS platform: Rovio's new puzzler called Amazing Alex and Tiny Wings 2, a sequel to Andreas Illiger's little gem that charmed us with the cutesy bird character, cartoonish graphics and its simple yet addictive gameplay that has you jumping up and down the hills.

Turns out Tiny Wings 2 isn't really a sequel per se, but rather a free update to the original game, Tiny Wings 2.0 really. There's no reason to get disappointed as there's so much to look forward to, especially with a brand new iPad version coming. UPDATE: Tiny Wings HD is now live on the New Zealand App Store, your download link is right below...

Apple involved in 60% of all major mobile patent suits

When Steve Jobs unveiled the original iPhone back in 2007, he commented "and boy have we patented it." The CEO knew that Apple had something special on its hands, and that everyone else was going to try and replicate it.

He was right. Those patents he was referring to have since been involved in hundreds of lawsuits around the globe. In fact, a new report suggests that Apple is actually at the center of 60% of all major mobile litigation...

Apple responds to concerns over EPEAT withdraw

Last week, the news came out that Apple had recently removed 39 of its products from the EPEAT (Electronic Product Environmental Assessment Tool) registry. EPEAT is essentially a list of environmentally friendly products.

There's already been a significant amount of backlash — from both the media and consumers — regarding the announcement. So last night, the company decided to comment on the matter...

Apple HR corporate video explains what it’s like workin’ for the man

9to5Mac's Mark Gurman did a nice job discovering Apple HR's employee recruiting video on YouTube. It's definitely worth spending four minutes and 36 seconds of your time for it tells a story of what it's like working for the world's most-valuable company and arguably the most powerful corporation on the planet.

We know from the previous reports that landing a gig at Apple entails putting in long hours and dedicating yourself to the job completely. This video paints a different picture in that it highlights some of the perks that go with the job.

Gurman opines in his piece over at 9to5Mac that this Apple-produced clip represents "the most in-depth tour of Apple’s Cupertino headquarters that we have ever seen on a public forum, especially Apple’s own website"...

Sprint intervenes, opposes Galaxy Nexus ban

The iPhone-friendly carrier Sprint, the nation's third-largest telco, today filed amicus brief (a legal opinion) with the Federal Circuit concerning a sales injunction against Samsung's Galaxy Nexus smartphone sought by Apple. Sprint is arguing that no party, Apple included, should be allowed to leverage a sales ban as "a staple of the smartphone wars".

The carrier paints itself as an "unwitting victim" of the large-scale Apple-Samsung legal wrangling, saying it just wants the issue to be fully resolved without an immediate ban...

T-Mobile not seen landing the iPhone before 2013

T-Mobile USA, the nation's fourth largest telco, is not seen getting Apple's smartphone this year, despite paying dearly for network upgrades to support 3G data speeds on the iPhone and testing its iPhone-friendly data service at WWDC. The news doesn't bode well for the Deutsche Telekom-owned carrier, conspicuously the sole major U.S. wireless company without Apple's device...
