Imgur releases brand new iPhone client for browsing the fascinating world of animated GIFs

After releasing its inaugural iOS app back in 2013 only to remove it from the App Store less than a year later over numerous user complaints, Imgur on Thursday tried its luck again and released a brand new iPhone application.

Unlike the now-defunct app that offered a spartan web view of the mobile Imgur website, the newly released client does feature sleek appearance and native performance.

That it puts the millions of the web’s memes in the palm of your hand (and will soon make it easy to upload your own GIFs to the service) doesn't hurt it either.

Personal engraving will be reportedly available for Apple Watch

Apple has long offered an option to add a free laser-engraved message to any new iPod or iPad sold through its online store and now a fresh new rumor out of France is claiming that the forthcoming Apple Watch will offer customers free personal engravings as well.

Though not quite sure if the customization option will be available from day one, French blog iPhonote reportedly heard from an anonymous source involved with Apple that the company will eventually offer free laser-cut custom messages on Watches.

iOS 8.2 arriving Monday, here are full release notes

Backtracking on its previous report which claimed iOS 8.2 would be released for public consumption this week, BGR is now claiming that the software will be released to the public next week.

According to BGR founder and editor Jonathan Geller, Apple's decided to release one more Gold Master (GM) version crying a build number of 12D508 to employees and testers ahead of an expected launch this coming Monday.

EU rules e-books can’t be subject to lower taxes

The top court of the European Union has determined that e-books shouldn't be treated like their printed counterparts when it comes to taxes and therefore should be subject to higher tax rates, The Wall Street Journal reported Thursday.

“But the European Commission signaled it may change the rules next year to allow for equal taxation of books in any form,” reads the report.

iPad Pro rumored to adopt oxide LCD display tech

The rumored iPad Pro could adopt an oxide LCD screen technology, with Sharp, LG Display and Samsung Display all sending out samples, Taiwanese trade publication DigiTimes reported Thursday.

The company allegedly assessed different technologies ranging from a-Si, TFT LCD and oxide LCD before deciding to go with the latter. The report adds that the iPad Pro will go into mass production in the third quarter of 2015.

Bloomberg: 12.9-inch iPad Pro delayed until fall

Bloomberg reports Apple is pushing back the larger 12.9-inch iPad Pro to this fall, following issues prohibiting the start of manufacturing.

Apple had initially planned to begin making the larger version of its tablet this quarter, as it hopes to boost its stagnant iPad sales.

Judge approves $415M payout in Apple, Google anti-poaching suit

US District Judge Lucy Koh granted preliminary approval on Wednesday for a settlement between Apple, Google, Adobe, and Intel and their former employees. The payout is said to be worth around $415 million, and would effectively end the long-running anti-poaching lawsuit.

Specs of 13″ MacBook Air refresh leak as rumors of Retina Air intensify

Images of what appear to be the specifications of a 13-inch MacBook Air refresh have surfaced on the forums of Chinese website Feng.com.

The seemingly genuine screenshots suggest a minor hardware bump based on Intel's latest Broadwell processors with more powerful Intel HD 6000 graphics, and a slightly bigger battery as well.

Although the source did not provide info related to the 11-inch MacBook Air model, Apple is likely to upgrade that machine with new Intel chips alongside the 13 incher.

In addition, a questionable report has suggested that a twelve-inch Air with a Retina screen is up for an announcement at Apple's “Spring Forward” media event next Monday, thought to focus mostly (but not exclusively?) on the Apple Watch.

HBO to launch ‘HBO Now’ standalone service in April, may have Apple TV as launch partner

HBO is looking to hop onto the Internet TV craze with the launch of a standalone service called "HBO Now" in April, according to the International Business Times.

The publication reports HBO is looking to charge $15 per month for the service, which would offer HBO content like "Game of Thrones" and "Boardwalk Empire". It would be the first time customers will be able to access HBO without having to go through a cable or satellite provider.

Banners begin going up at Yerba Buena Center ahead of Apple Watch event

Apple has begun decorating the outside of the Yerba Buena Center for the Arts in San Francisco, ahead of Monday's Apple Watch event. Creative Strategies analyst Ben Bajarin posted the above photo on Twitter this afternoon, showing a banner being hung on the front of the building.

The image on the banner matches the one on the invitations Apple sent out to media members last week for the event, which it has dubbed 'Spring Forward.' The phrase is a reference to Daylight Savings Time, which begins Sunday, and hints that the event will focus on the Apple Watch.

Rumor: iPhone 6s has 2GB RAM and Apple SIM

Apple's upcoming S-refresh to the iPhone 6 and iPhone 6 Plus apparently includes two gigabytes of random-access memory (RAM), a feature long expected by Apple fans who have been eyeing top-end Android handsets with 3GB of RAM with envy. More RAM = better multitasking = longer battery life.

Furthermore, the phone ship with the Apple SIM which debuted alongside the iPad Air 2, as reported by AppleInsider quoting “a person familiar with Apple's future product plans” who in the past has provided “reliable info.”
