GM announces CarPlay support for 2016 Cadillac models

General Motors announced today that 2016 model year products from its luxury car division Cadillac will feature enhanced connectivity and control thanks to the addition of CarPlay and Android Auto. The move is part of a broader enhancement to CUE, Cadillac's infotainment/user experience portal.

GM says that CarPlay will debut in all 2016 Cadillac models that feature CUE's 8-in multitouch screen expect the SRX Crossover vehicle. Production on 2016 models will begin this summer, except for the SRX, which is moving to an all-new generation in early 2016. Android Auto will debut in late 2016.

WWDC 2015 keynote posted to iTunes as a downloadable high-definition video podcast

Following promotional footage for Apple Music that the Cupertino company posted to its YouTube channel along with the inspirational 'App Effect' video, the entire keynote presentation has now been uploaded to iTunes and made available to everyone in the form of a video podcast.

In case you haven't had a chance to sit through the whole keynote talk yesterday, you can now download the video to your Mac, iPhone, iPod touch or iPad and watch it on your own time.

If you're buying or selling on eBay, you can now receive gentle alerts on your wrist for your tracked items on the popular e-commerce service.

Thanks to eBay's freshly updated iPhone application that now includes a WatchKit component, one of the most popular online marketplaces in the world is now available on the leading smartwatch on the market.

As TechCrunch reported Tuesday, the required Apple Watch-focused update to eBay's iOS app is available in the App Store now.

If your Mac can run Yosemite, it’ll run El Capitan just fine

Just like the rumors have predicted, OS X 10.11 El Capitan is short on major headline-grabbing features Apple fans have grown accustomed to.

Instead, the Snow Leopard-style update focuses on speeding up everyday computing with such enhancements as graphics acceleration through Metal, faster apps enabled by Swift 2, battery saving technologies, stronger security and much more.

That means you won't have to break the bank to buy the latest and greatest hardware from Apple in order to run El Capitan because it will run just fine on most recent Macs, according to the official OS X 10.11 release notes that Ars Technica unearthed today.

During its keynote talk, Apple played a bunch of videos to WWDC attendees to visualize some of the new products and features it announced this morning.

The company still hasn't uploaded the full keynote video to its official channel on YouTube—though you can stream it from the Apple.com homepage—but now promo footage highlighting the new $10 per month Apple Music service have popped up on YouTube, along with an inspirational video showcasing the App Store success story.

New iOS 9 features Apple didn’t mention today

During Apple's WWDC keynote this morning, it offered up a preview of iOS 9. It discussed a number of major new features in the upcoming OS update, including a smarter Siri, improved Maps and better battery life.

But as usual, there are a number of new features in iOS 9 that Apple didn't really talk about today. The slide you see above gives you an idea of what some of those features might be.

Square previews new contactless card reader with Apple Pay compatibility

Square, a mobile payment startup founded by Twitter co-founder Jack Dorsey, received an important mention during this morning's Worldwide Developers Conference keynote talk.

In going through a laundry list of new Apple Pay features, an Apple executive said even more small businesses will be able to accept Apple Pay using a new contactless card reader by Square which plays nice with Apple Pay.

Soon after the even has wrapped up, Square followed up with additional details about the forthcoming device.

How Low Power Mode works in iOS 9

One of the more significant new features in iOS 9 Apple mentioned during its keynote today is called "Low Power Mode." Similar to Power Reserve on the Apple Watch, this feature is designed to extend the battery life of your device.

First it should be noted that because of the under-the-hood improvements in iOS 9, Apple says battery life for the average user will increase by up to one hour. If you need more, Lower Power Mode gives you up to 3 additional hours.

iOS 9 includes a standalone iCloud Drive app

Since Apple's WWDC keynote ended a few hours ago, we've installed the iOS 9 beta and begun digging for new stuff. Apple previewed a handful of the software's features at the event, but as usual, there are a number of additions and improvements it didn't talk about.

One of those features is a standalone iCloud Drive app. It's not immediately apparent, but while launching an app we received a pop-up asking us if we wanted to install it. We were also able to access it via the Settings app iCloud > iCloud Drive > Show on Home Screen.

Apple reveals new ‘Move to iOS’ app for Android switchers

To make life easier for people looking to switch to an iPhone and iOS 9 over from an Android device, Apple will be providing a dedicated iPhone and iPad application called 'Move to iOS'.

Yet to be released in the App Store, Move to iOS was designed to simplify the process of transferring user data securely from an Android phone or tablet to a new iPhone or iPad.
