Apple’s next move in India: selling used iPhones

It is no secret that Apple is working feverishly to get more iPhones into customers' hands in India and one of the ways to accomplish this goal will be selling used handsets in the populous country, according to a new report from The Times of India on Friday.

The iPhone maker has already submitted an application to import and sell refurbished iPhones in India. The Cupertino company currently sells refurbished Mac, iPad and iPod products through via its online stores, but not iPhones.

Intel has reportedly secured orders for a ‘significant portion’ of iPhone 7 cellular modems

Chip giant Intel has secured orders for a “significant portion” of cellular modems on Apple's upcoming iPhone 7, according to a note CLSA Securities analyst Srini Pajjuri sent to clients, a copy of which was obtained by NDTV.

The current iPhone 6s generation uses Qualcomm's MDM9635M LTE Cat. 6 cellular modem and the previous-generation iPhone 6 series is outfitted with Qualcomm's MDM9625M modem so if this particular analyst is right, Qualcomm is set to lose some serious money should Apple dual-source cellular modems for the next iPhone.

Google launches experimental hands-free payments app

Hands Free, a new Google app for iOS and Android, allows you to pay for in-store purchases without even pulling a smartphone out of your pocket. The Internet giant said that they're piloting the new app so for the time being it's available to South Bay residents.

Those who would test the app shall be treated to up to $5 off their first Hands Free purchase at participating stores, which include a small number of McDonald’s, Papa John’s and local eateries in the area.

Toca Kitchen 2 is Apple’s new Free App of the Week

Apple's in-house editors have selected Toca Boca's Toca Kitchen 2, the official sequel to the wildly popular Toca Kitchen, as a new Free App of the Week on the App Store. Retailing for $2.99, this universal app is now available at no charge for a week, until next Thursday, March 10, 2016.

Released in December 2014, the game has a rating of four and a half starts based on nearly 700 App Store reviews.

In Toca Kitchen 2, you will cook foods for new types of guests, with more tools to play with and new food combinations to test out.

Unsurprisingly, Samsung stops short of voicing open support for Apple in FBI fight

Apple's dispute with the United States government over a court order demanding that it create an insecure version of iOS to help the FBI break the passcode of the San Bernardino shooter's iPhone 5c has gained support from more than 40 parties, according to The New York Times.

Samsung, however, likely won't be one of them.

As reported by Bloomberg, Samsung generally supports the notion that “any requirement to create a backdoor could undermine consumers’ trust,” but stopped short of voicing open support for its rival.

Vimeo now streams 4K video on iPad Pro, gains a bunch of other new features in 6.0 update

Apple creates support account on Twitter

Apple has created a brand new company-maintained account on Twitter dedicated to tips, tricks and customer service. @AppleSupport provides “tips and tutorials from the same Apple Advisors you know and trust,” according to the company.

The first tip shared on Apple Support on Twitter is about turning lists into checklists in the updated Notes app on OS X El Capitan and iOS 9.
