Shazam launches artist updates, friends’ tags and newsfeed-style interface

The music discovery and fingerprinting engine Shazam is among a bunch of apps that were updated with iOS 7-inspired interface shortly after Apple released the new iPhone, iPad and iPod software for public consumption on September 18.

It's been quite a wait since Shazam's last feature-packed update and today's release has seen to that.

Not only does Shazam now let you see what your friends are tagging in real-time and check out updates from the artists you follow, it also sports a brand new interface to interact with the Shazam community. More on that in just a second...

Popular iOS VNC client 'Screens' has received a huge update this weekend, bringing the app to version 3.1. For those unfamiliar with it, the app allows you to connect to your Mac or Windows PC from your iOS device.

Screens 3.1 brings about a number of new features, improvements and bug fixes. On the feature front, the app now supports the A7's new 64-bit tech (for compatible devices), AirPlay Mirroring, and Hot Corners on Mac...

A new Dropbox client, Boxie by Gianluca Divisi and Matteo Lallone, has quickly earned our attention with its gorgeous user interface and a comprehensive set of effective features that make navigating and managing Dropbox files and folders a breeze.

Following on its mid-October release, the app which "prettifies your whole Dropbox experience" has received its first point update bringing a couple new features such as passcode protection, folder-by-folder sorting options, smart text auto selection and "tons of under-the-hood improvements and optimizations"...

Tweetbot 3 is out with all-new design for iOS 7

Popular Twitter client Tweetbot has finally received its iOS 7 update this afternoon. A week after Tapbots announced that the new app had been sent off to Apple and was awaiting approval from the App Team, Tweetbot 3 has arrived.

As expected, Tweetbot 3 has been completely redesigned from the ground up for iOS 7—as you can see in the screenshot above, it looks nothing like its predecessor. And also as expected, the brand new app comes with a new price tag...

Vine app update adds new ‘Time Travel’ and ‘Sessions’ features

It's been about 10 months since Twitter launched its video-sharing platform experiment known as Vine, and it's still going strong. The app recently crossed the 40 million user mark, and it's currently in the top 20 free apps in the App Store.

And today, it gets even better. Vine posted an update for its iOS client this morning, bringing about two huge new features: Time Travel and Sessions. The former is essentially a time-shift editing tool, and the latter is the ability to save drafts...

Slingbox gains AirPlay place-shifting, Blockbuster movies, plays nice with Mavericks

The Slingbox, a TV streaming media device made by Sling Media, has received a nice little firmware update earlier today bringing support for AirPlay, a technology from Apple that streams media from iOS devices and Macs to a TV set through the $99 Apple TV set-top box. It's a notable enhancement: with AirPlay, owners of Slingboxes can stream live television from their Slingbox-connected TV to any Apple TV-connected TV set.

In addition to AirPlay support, the firmware update brings on-demand high-definition movies from Blockbuster and support for Apple's just-released OS X Mavericks (a free upgrade on the Mac App Store). More on that in just a second...

Fandango update brings new iOS 7 design, ‘Go Now’ feature and more

Attention moviegoers, Fandango has posted a significant update for its iOS client today, bringing the app to version 5.9. The new software has been redesigned for iOS 7, and includes several improvements.

Among them is the return of a popular feature called 'Go Now,' which allows you to quickly find a movie at your local theater and purchase tickets. And Spotlight and Search have both been given makeovers...

Apple's Aperture for Mac continues to give Adobe's Lightroom a run for its money as both programs compete for the title of the best photo manipulation and management software on the Mac. Pixelmator 3.0 FX now available with Layer Styles, Liquify Tools and new Mavericks features

My favorite Photoshop Mac replacement, Pixelmator, has just received a massive 3.0 update. Now rechristened as Pixelmator FX to reflect the newly acquired capabilities, it brings the much needed Layer Styles and Liguify Tools, both building on top of the recent 2.2 update which dates back as recently as two weeks ago.

Pixelmator 3.0 also supports new features introduced in OS X Mavericks (a free upgrade) and introduces a new image editing engine which the team claims make Pixelmator "a top-quality, full-featured image editing app for the Mac”...

Redesigned, re-engineered and 64-bit optimized iLife suite now available on iOS and Mac

After showing off the new versions of iPhoto, iMovie and GarageBand for the iPhone and iPad at its keynote earlier today, Apple's made the updated iOS and Mac editions of these apps available for download on the App Store and Mac App Store.

Safari 6.1 is out, brings Shared Links, Power Saver, Sidebar and more to Mountain Lion

In addition to a host of updates to its various iOS apps, Apple following today's iPad keynote has released the Safari 6.1 update, bringing some of the features that are part of the free OS X Mavericks update to Mountain Lion Macs. These include the Shared Links feature, the new Sidebar and Power Saver which improves battery performance when browsing plug-in heavy web pages on notebook systems...

Apple updates Trailers, Podcasts and Find My iPhone apps for iOS 7

Earlier today, Apple announced that it would be updating 20 of its apps for iOS and Mac. We've already covered a number of these updates, including those for the iWork and iLife suites, and now it's time for some iOS-specific apps.
