iOS Promo launches major jailbreak tweak giveaway

We love free stuff here at iDB, and we know you do too. That's why we had to make sure and tell you about iOS Promo's new monster jailbreak tweak giveaway.

The giveaway, for those who haven't heard about it yet, runs from now through July 5th. And it includes a number of some of Cydia's most popular packages...

Quickly shut down your device with QuickPowerDown

Fancy a way to shut down your device in the quickest fashion imaginable? Then you may want to give QuickPowerDown a look.

QuickPowerDown is a jailbreak tweak that allows you to outright bypass the "slide to power off" menu when shutting off your iPhone. Along with that, there is also a settings panel in the Settings app that lets you configure different actions to the power button...

How to add download percentages to app installs

AppCent is a new jailbreak tweak that adds a percentage value beneath the app currently being installed on your iOS device. It's a very simple tweak, and for smaller sized apps you probably won't derive much value, but it's nice to have for larger apps that take a long time to download.

Although a progress bar indicating your download percentage already exists in iOS, there's something to be said for having actual numerical values that you can see and identify with...

BannerDisable adds a new “Do Not Disturb” option to your iPhone

BannerDisable is a jailbreak tweak that adds a new "Do Not Disturb" toggle switch to the iPhone's settings app. This switch allows you to globally enable or disable banner notifications on the fly, which can be very useful if you're trying to get some rest or take a meeting.

Although it's always been possible to selectively disable or enable notifications for specific apps, BannerDisable excels because it allows you to do so for all apps in one simultaneous motion.

FacebookThis integrates Facebook photo sharing in iOS 5

Don't feel like waiting for iOS 6 for native Facebook integration? Then try FacebookThis on for size.

While it won't give you system-wide Facebook integration at the level that's bound to be present in iOS 6, it will lend you the ability to easily share your photos directly from your Camera Roll. MountainLionCenter now available on Cydia

[tube]http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0ZZ8tS2cfIk[/tube]

MountainLionCenter — the jailbreak tweak that adds an OS X Mountain Lion inspired Notification Center panel to your iPad, was just released on Cydia's BigBoss repo as a free download.

As noted yesterday, this is a feature that's been long overdue; in my opinion, it makes Notification Center a lot less intrusive feeling on the iPad. Couple it with IntelliScreen X, and it's even better.

It should be noted, that despite my ability to get it working on my iPhone, the tweak has been released as iPad only, at least for the time being. Be sure to check out our full walkthrough of MountainLionCenter, and let me know what you think about it in the comments below.

MountainLionCenter brings OS X’s Notification Center back to iOS

Apple's initiative to bring several highly notable iOS features "back to the Mac" is one of the hallmarks of its upcoming release of OS X Mountain Lion. One of the most touted iOS features to make its way to Mountain Lion is Notification Center. Notification Center on the Mac works similar to the way it does on iOS, with a few noted differences.

One of the main differences is the location of Notification Center — on the Mac it is docked and hidden on the right-hand side of the screen. Wouldn't such change be welcomed to Notification Center on the iPad? I say this, because in its current form, it's placed square in the middle of the screen no matter the orientation. In fact, it's sort of like an afterthought.

MountainLionCenter is the upcoming jailbreak tweak that plans to change this, placing it more in line with the way Notification Center works on OS X Mountain Lion. For more details, watch our full video walkthrough inside.

This tweak lets you lock your device by swiping to the Spotlight page

SpotLock is a new jailbreak tweak that allows you to lock your iPhone simply by swiping over to the place where Spotlight search normally resides. Granted, this tweak will totally eliminate the ability to use Spotlight search, but I believe the popular consensus is that many of you don't use Spotlight to begin with.

Of course, a quick press of the sleep button at the top of your iPhone is the quickest way to secure your iPhone from a software perspective, but SpotLock is an interesting way to break the monotony and switch things up a bit...

Music Widget, the Dashboard X compatible music interface that we previewed a couple of days ago, has now appeared for download on Cydia.

Music Widget allows you to view your "now playing" album art, along with placing play/pause, skip, and previous buttons conveniently near the bottom of the interface.

Take a look at our full walkthough, and head over to Cydia's BigBoss repo to download it for free. What do you think?

App Store launches Free App of the Week and Editors’ Choice promos

Not to be outdone by indie devs' massive game sale, Apple has launched a pair of prominently advertised promotions on both the App Store and the Mac App Store, in time for your extended Memorial Day weekend. The new Editors' Choice section offers great apps for both iOS and Mac platforms cherry-picked by Apple's iTunes team.

Also, Cupertino (finally) pulled an Amazon with the other section, giving away one free app every week, starting today...

Beautiful Unfold lock screen tweak now available and it’s free

Jeff told you about this awesome lock screen tweak on Sunday and I'm happy to report that the Unfold jailbreak tweak is now available for download. It was born out of Anton Kudin's “fold to unlock” concept for the iPhone which immediately captured attention of the jailbreak community.

Three days later, that concept has been brought to reality thanks to German jailbreak developer Jonas Gessner. What this tweak does is pretty simple yet very effective...

Upcoming jailbreak tweak allows you to fold your Lock screen to unlock your iPhone

A few days ago, Russian freelance designer, Anton Kudin, created a new "fold to unlock" concept for the iPhone. Needless to say, his concept turned out to be a pretty big hit.

Unsurprisingly, given the history of the jailbreak community's fast turnaround time, Kudin's concept has been turned into a reality.

This afternoon I had the privilege to sit down and test out an unreleased version of Unfold, a new jailbreak tweak from German jailbreak developer Jonas Gessner. Unfold, as you might have guessed, is a usable implementation of the fold to unlock concept.
