A Concept Design of What an Apple TV Set Could Look Like

Over the past couple of weeks, speculation around an Apple-flavored TV set has dramatically amplified. Between Steve Jobs' "I cracked it" comment and a TV market that seems ripe for the picking, the time feels right for Apple to move in.

Word on the street is that the company is so serious about entering the television space that it already has a working prototype of a TV set. Obviously we won't get to see the product until it's finished, but we can look at this gorgeous concept...

Hulu Plus App For Apple TV is Ready To Go

It would seem that there is quite the political battle going on inside Apple's Cupertino headquarters, and the subject matter may not be what you'd expect.

According to 9to5Mac, Apple is currently mulling over the decision to allow Hulu Plus onto its Apple TV platform. That's right, Hulu Plus.

The story suggests that there is currently a completed build of Hulu Plus running on internal Apple TVs, and that the app is ready for primetime. In fact, it has been ready for a month. Apple hasn't yet decided whether to allow it onto the Apple TV alongside the existing Netflix app...

Apps Aren’t the New Channels

Since we first heard that Steve Jobs had 'cracked' the code for an integrated Apple TV set, rumors have been going crazy about what Apple has planned.

News came out this week that Jeff Robin, the guy who helped develop the iPod and iTunes, is currently leading Apple's secret TV project – let's just call this Apple TV set the "iTV." Our imaginations then started running wild at the prospect of a TV that could be controlled using Siri, or maybe even 3D gestures.

While there is no doubt Siri would be part of an iTV, one big question remains: how will the content get there?

Will Siri Be the Magical Key to Unlocking the Apple TV?

It's a rumor that's been around for easily two years now, and it just won't go away. Is Apple really working on making a dedicated TV set?

Not the little black box we know as an Apple TV, but rather a big, Apple-branded television. Such a TV is definitely coming, according to Nick Bilton's anonymous sources, writing for The New York Times.

What does Apple hope for by entering a market that is already very much in a race to the bottom, with prices on TV sets plummeting? How could Apple bring its typical flair to an industry which is, after all, simply selling the panels that we sit and stare at? The real magic happens in the boxes we attach to our TV, right?

According to Bilton, Apple has a secret weapon up its sleeve, and it's Siri...

iTunes Creator Reportedly Leading Secret Apple Television Project

Rumors have been bouncing around for years regarding Apple and its secret TV project. No, I'm not talking about the $99 media box. I'm talking about a full-blown television set with the words "Made in Cupertino" printed on the back.

Thanks to a quote from Steve Jobs in his recently-released biography, the speculation has regained some traction over the last couple of weeks. Pundits are now reporting that we could see an Apple-branded TV set as early as next year...

Apple TV Software 4.4.2 Now Available for Download

The Cupertino company has had a rough time sorting out its Apple TV updates over the past few weeks. It seems that all the trouble started when Scott Forstall's team released iOS 5 to the public earlier this month.

Last week Apple released a software update for its media hub (4.4.1), but it was immediately pulled due to customer complaints. Apparently re-releasing it still didn't do the trick, because tonight Apple seeded 4.4.2 to Apple TV owners...

Apple Releases Apple TV 4.4.1 Update… Again

Yesterday we reported that Apple had released iOS 4.4.1 for the Apple TV. Unfortunately, minutes after pushing the update, many users reported that the new software was actually "bricking" their device, which let Apple to pull the plug and stop the release of 4.4.1.

It seems that Apple has fixed the issue and has started pushing iOS 4.4.1 for Apple TV again late last night...
