AT&T Shows off LTE Speeds Expected to Appear in iPhones Next Year

Stacey Higginbotham got a tour of AT&T's Foundry space in Plano, Texas on Wednesday. Not only did the GigaOM author get to rub elbows with the carrier's SVP of application and service infrastructure John Summers, she also got to witness their LTE in action.

LTE stands for Long Term Evolution and has been a popular choice for 4th generation technology among wireless carriers. Verizon deployed their LTE service late last year, and other than a few hiccups, the service has been widely popular. So how will AT&T stack up?

Survey Finds AT&T and T-Mobile Customer Satisfaction the Worst in the Industry

An interesting piece of non-informative information from the Associated Press quoting a survey (I can't seem to find an actual link to this survey) that found AT&T and T-Mobile at the bottom of ratings in customer satisfaction.

AT&T haters will rejoice whereas those like me who have always had great experience with AT&T customer service will be wondering how this is possible...

LTE-Enabled iPhone Won’t Be Seen Until 2012

Following other reports that Apple won't introduce an LTE-enabled iPhone until at least 2012, Digitimes has chimed in to affirm that there won't be an iPhone introduced with 4G speeds this year.

Besides the fact that Apple stated it wasn't planning on LTE adoption in the near future, the industry has indicated that bringing 4G to the iPhone simply isn't feasible right now. After the fifth generation iPhone is released this fall, it is expected that the sixth generation iPhone will have LTE support in 2012.

Report Claims iPhone 3GS is Outselling Flagship Android Phones

While the iPhone continues to be widely popular, each new device launch seems to come with a large amount of criticism. The original iPhone didn't have a cut and paste feature, the 3G didn't have video recording, and the 3GS only had a 3.2 MP camera without a flash.

Although its specs aren't always cutting edge compared to its Android counterparts, the iPhone has been a handheld favorite since its inception. This fact is reiterated by a recent report that not only is the iPhone 4 the top selling smartphone for Verizon and AT&T, the 3GS is outselling top Android phones...

How AT&T Recognizes Unauthorized Tethering from Jailbroken iPhones

In case you didn't know, AT&T has started cracking down on unauthorized tethering, specifically for jailbroken iPhones on a grandfathered unlimited data plan.

If you've gotten AT&T's "text of death" relating to your tethering usage, you're probably utilizing free tethering through jailbreak apps like MyWi. Understandably, AT&T doesn't want its users to have a free broadband connection through tethering hacks, and the carrier has started moving users over to its DataPro plan for $45 a month.

So, how is AT&T targeting unauthorized tethering on its network?

Will the Next iPhone Be Called ‘4G’?

Will Apple call the next gen iPhone the 4G? Most have been calling the unannounced device the iPhone 5, but recent reports speculate that Apple could end up calling it the 4s (like the 3GS).

AT&T has changed its 4G nomenclature to include devices that previously weren't fast enough to be considered "4G." In AT&T's latest series of marketing campaigns, they have started to call slower devices "4G." The devices that are referenced by AT&T posses the same speeds as what is expected from the next iPhone.

My Tethering Experience With MyWi on AT&T

I recently got a text message from AT&T letting me know that I was "enjoying" free tethering with my iPhone, and that I would need to change my habits or be forced to upgrade to an official tethering plan. For all intents and purposes, I will refer to this as the "text of death."

This text of death from AT&T didn't surprise me. We reported awhile ago that AT&T was beginning to crack down on tethering that wasn't sanctioned through their official tethering plan.

What surprised me was that I thought I'd been careful, meaning, I thought I'd played it safe with how much I'd been tethering. After calling AT&T, I discovered some interesting information that might help those of you in a similar position.

AT&T Rep: Apple Says No New iPhone in June or July

An AT&T customer care representative has claimed that Apple has informed the carrier that there will be no new iPhone in June or July of this year. Although general consensus has been that Apple will postpone the next generation iPhone until later this year, there has still been hope that a summer announcement at WWDC would be made.

According to an AT&T rep, Apple will definitely not be releasing a new iPhone this summer.

T-Mobile Challenges iPhone Users in Seattle Area, Offers $1000 Prize

Want to win $1000? Well, you can if you live in the Seattle area and your iPhone bandwidth speeds are faster than T-Mobile's new flagship Android smartphone, the Samsung Galaxy S 4G.

T-Mobile is publicly challenging all iPhone owners (Verizon and AT&T) in the Seattle area to a speed test against the T-Mobile Galaxy S 4G. T-Mobile states that if any iPhone user in that area is able to beat the Galaxy S 4G in a speed test, they will reward them with a $1,000 cash prize.

White iPhone 4 32GB Might Not Be Available From AT&T

If you were one of the few that's planning on getting a white iPhone 4 in the 32GB storage capacity from an AT&T store this Wednesday, you might not be able to.

According to an internal AT&T shipping invoice obtained by the folks over at Boy Genius Report, while AT&T stores are scheduled to receive the 16GB version of the white iPhone 4, the 32GB model is nowhere to be found on the invoice.

White iPhone 4 Shipping to U.S. Stores, Launching April 27 on AT&T and Verizon

It's been 10 months of white iPhone 4 delays, and, starting this week, the device is supposed to be offered on both AT&T and Verizon. It's finally coming, folks!
