How to Get Back on AT&T’s Unlimited Data Plan

AT&T no longer offers its new or existing customer’s unlimited data. This is unfortunate, but not permanent. This method will allow you to have unlimited data for use with any phone on any account on the AT&T Wireless network.

This guide is the culmination of several people’s struggles in getting AT&T to give them back something they deserve. Originally posted back in October and updated a little while after, we’re back to give it to you again! This time with an easier to follow guide!

Leaked AT&T Documents Hint at LTE-Flavored iPad

Last night, the 6-man hacking group known as LulzSec ended their 50 days of chaos with one last act of mischief. The team once again published confidential data recovered from their latest attack. One of the folders in the stolen archives is titled "AT&T."

In digging through the data, the folks over at iFans have come across some interesting information. The internal AT&T documents reveal that the carrier is planning to roll out their new LTE network in the first week of July, but that's not all...

Existing Customers Will Be Able to Keep Unlimited Data Plans on Verizon

We recently told you about the nation's second largest carrier dropping its unlimited data plan for a tiered structure similar to that of AT&T. More details have surfaced, and the good news is that existing customers will be able to keep their coveted $29.99 unlimited data plans with an ongoing Verizon contract.

Like AT&T, Verizon will be grandfathering in existing customers for continued use of the unlimited data plan.

iPhone Top-Selling Handset on AT&T and Verizon

According to a recent study, after five months, the iPhone already dominates the Verizon network in the U.S. On AT&T, the numbers are even more impressive, with a 65% lead.

BITG Research surveyed 250 Verizon and AT&T stores across the United States over a period of three months and determined that the iPhone is the number one smartphone on both carriers.

DropCall Eliminator Routes Phone Calls to EDGE Network to Improve Call Quality

While most of its bad publicity has faded into the background, dropped calls are still an issue for AT&T customers (and all carriers) in certain areas. To remedy this problem, many AT&T customers have been directed to switch to the EDGE network when making phone calls.

Apparently, many dropped calls from AT&T iPhone handsets are caused by a 3G data conflict. The iPhone doesn't seem to experience that issue on EDGE networks. But wouldn't it be cumbersome to switch back and forth between EDGE and 3G all the time? Yes. But that's why we jailbreak. Meet DropCall Eliminator...

AT&T Silent About Unlocking iPhone

For the first time in history, Apple is now offering factory unlocked iPhones in the U.S. If you walk into your local Apple store, or browse online, you can purchase an unlocked iPhone 4 for operation on any compatible carrier. These unlocked devices start at $649.

AT&T does not currently offer unlocked iPhones in the United States. AT&T has yet to state if it will offer unlocked iPhones in its stores, or if the GSM carrier will unlock previously purchased iPhones.

AT&T Working On Smaller SIM Cards Just Like Apple

In an interview at All Things Digital's D9 conference, AT&T CEO Ralph de la Vega hinted that the mobile phone carrier is working on a new, smaller SIM card standard for future smartphones just as Apple is already confirmed to be.

According to AppleInsider, the comment came after All Things Digital's Ina Fried asked about the possibility of a new embedded SIM card as Apple had been rumored to favor, saving valuable space inside ever-shrinking handsets...

AT&T Working on Shared Data Plans

Another interesting tidbit was unveiled by AT&T Mobility CEO, Ralph de la Vega, concerning the company's future strategy for data plans. Instead of having to buy a separate data plan for each wireless device, such as an iPhone and iPad 3G, customers will be able to purchase a "shared data plan" that could be used across all registered devices.

After receiving a lot of criticism over the network's poor reliability and quality, AT&T is trying to adapt and build a better infrastructure for the largest group of smartphone customers in the U.S. These shared data plans look to be part of the plan for creating a better AT&T...

AT&T: We’re Not Happy With Our Network

The chief executive of AT&T wireless, Ralph De La Vega, stated that the nation's largest carrier wasn't "happy" with its network. In an interview at the All Things Digital conference, Ralph De La Vega talked about how AT&T is trying to "reduce static" with its customers and help build a more reliable wireless network.

In light of the carrier's consistently poor consumer ratings, it's clear that something needs to be done to beef up AT&T. Most notably, AT&T is in the process of buying its smaller competitor, T-Mobile, for $39 billion...

AT&T Running Out of Black iPhone 4, iPhone 5 Coming Out Soon?

Wow oh oh. This is probably the most exciting news of the day, even though it doesn't look like much on the surface. If you look at AT&T's website right now, you'll see that they are running out of black iPhone 4s.

They do have the white iPhone 4, and they even have refurbished black iPhone 4, but no new ones. What can that possibly mean? Maybe a new iPhone 5 coming out real soon?

Will the Next iPhone Have 4G on AT&T Only?

Despite launching on Verizon just this February, one analyst believes Apple could be about to ditch the carrier for a second time and launch its next iPhone with 4G compatibility on AT&T only.

Todd Rethemeier, an analyst at Hudson Square Research, has ignored recent speculation that claims the fifth-generation iPhone will be called the 'iPhone 4S' and will skip 4G wireless support, and claims in his report the next device will instead be called the 'iPhone 5', boasting 4G compatibility and leaving Verizon behind...

AT&T Rolls Out LTE in 5 Cities, 10 More to Come by End of Year

AT&T issued a press release today saying that the company was going to roll out LTE in 5 cities by the summer, namely Dallas, Houston, Chicago, Atlanta and San Antonio. Additionally, AT&T will add LTE to another 10 cities by the end of the year.

Although I'm very excited AT&T is deploying LTE in more cities, we iPhone users will most likely not be able to enjoy this technology for a while, as it was reported the iPhone won't support LTE until 2012...
