You can use an AT&T SIM card in a Verizon iPad

For those of you who are getting your hands on the Verizon LTE iPad today, MacRumors notes a cool trick if you have an AT&T SIM card laying around. According to their findings, the Verizon iPad's micro-SIM slot can actually be unlocked to use AT&T's 3G network.

There's no real hacking required either. All you have to do is pop-out the Verizon LTE micro-SIM card and pop-in the AT&T 3G micro-SIM card. This is a great trick for if you're in an area with minimum Verizon coverage...

New iPad still doesn’t allow FaceTime calls over cellular connection

Even though it's been around for a couple of years now, FaceTime has really struggled to gain massive user adoption. Mac and iOS owners just aren't using it as much as you think they would for a free, no-hassle video-calling service.

One of the main reasons for its stumbles is the fact that iOS devices have not been able to make FaceTime calls outside of Wi-Fi networks (unless you're jailbroken obviously). And it doesn't look like that's going to change with the new iPad...

AT&T 4G LTE coming to 12 more cities

AT&T is still lagging behind Verizon when it comes to 4G LTE coverage – the real 4G – but it's coming to 12 more markets:

AT&T plans to roll out 4G LTE soon in Naples, Fla.; Bloomington, Lafayette and Muncie, Ind.; Baton Rouge and New Orleans, La.; St. Louis, Mo; Akron, Canton and Cleveland, Ohio; Bryan-College Station, Texas; and Staten Island in New York City.

These launches are scheduled for April, May and into the early summer.

AT&T has been working on IPTV for Apple TV since 2007

You know the old saying, "where there's smoke, there's fire?" Essentially it means, well the way we use it anyways, is that we wouldn't be hearing consistent rumors from a bunch of different sources unless there was some kind of truth behind them.

This proved true with the recent iPad gossip, and we imagine the same will hold true for the rumored Apple TV set. Chatter has really picked up over the last year regarding an Apple-branded television, but it's actually been going on for more than 5 years...

Verizon to offer $20 1GB data plan for 4G iPad with free hotspot support

There was certainly some confusion earlier today regarding what the carriers' plans are for the new iPad's hotspot feature. The tablet, for the first time, will be compatible with high-speed LTE networks. And it will be to share the connection with up to 5 other devices.

As of right now, AT&T, one of the largest carriers in the US, has no idea when or if it will support the feature. But Verizon, on the other hand, has confirmed that its four data plans, starting at $20 per month, will all include free hotspot support...

Neither AT&T nor Verizon supporting 4G iPad hotspot yet [Updated]

Among the slew of new features Apple announced in its latest iPad yesterday was the personal hotspot. Just like with the iPhone, you'll be able to use the new tablet to share an internet connection with up to 5 devices.

This becomes even more appealing when you consider that the new slate is capable of 4G speeds — which is up to 10 times faster than 3G. But don't get too excited. It appears that there is confusion among the carriers...

iOS 5.1 turns your iPhone 4S into an iPhone 4G

If you're not worried about your jailbreak, we're assuming you've already installed the iOS 5.1 update that was just released this afternoon. iOS 5.1 adds some great features like Siri support for Japanese users, a new camera app for iPad, and a new camera shortcut.

The new update also adds a 4G indicator to the AT&T version of the iPhone 4S. While it doesn't truly support 4G, AT&T can call the iPhone 4S a 4G device because it supports HSPA+ networks up to 16 megabits per second...

AT&T and Verizon data plans for LTE iPad revealed

Apple's online store is slowly creeping back online, and as we go to purchase the new iPad, AT&T and Verizon's LTE data plans for the LTE iPad have been revealed. Nothing has changed from the old 3G data options. Both carriers are still offering similar pricing, but have different options available.

AT&T is offering the lowest amount of data, offering only 250MB per month for $14.99, while Verizon offers the highest of 10GB per month for $80...

The new iPad launching on March 16th, pre-orders start today

One week folks, that's all the waiting you'll have to do before getting your hands on the new iPad.

You can pre-order the new iPad starting today, with availability on March 16th — the same day as the new Apple TV.

Thankfully, the prices for the devices have remained the same as the current generation iPads, with Wi-Fi only flavors going for $499, $599, and $699 for 16, 32, and 64GB respectively. LTE models will go for $629, $729, and $829 for the same amount of storage space.

As with the current generation, there will be both black and white versions, with separate LTE models for both Verizon and AT&T...

Both AT&T and Verizon hype a new addition to their lineups on eve of iPad 3 event

Both AT&T and Verizon have something big up their sleeves that will apparently be revealed soon. Could it be the iPad 3?

On Verizon's Wireless site you're greeted with the following: Something Is Coming. Be among the first to hear the news. Flip the channel over to AT&T's site, and you'll see similar verbiage: Coming Soon! Get ready to see an exciting new addition to our line-up.

If you ask me, that doesn't sound like the next "Motorola XZY Board Extreme Molotov Cocktail Edition 4G" phone...

AT&T responds to complaints, ups throttling limit to 3GB

AT&T has been under a lot of scrutiny lately due to its new data throttling practices. Last Fall, the carrier started significantly reducing the data speeds of its unlimited customers who were using more than 2GB a month.

The move prompted multiple complaints from subscribers, and even sparked a string of small claims court lawsuits. Well apparently all of the heat was too much for the carrier, as it appears it has just revamped its throttling policy...

What AT&T customers on unlimited data plans can do to fight throttling

Last year AT&T, along with several other carriers, decided to drop its unlimited data plan in favor of other options. And although it has allowed users to maintain their previously-owned unlimited plans, it isn't exactly winning customer service points.

A few months ago, the operator started throttling its subscribers after using only two gigabytes of their unlimited data. And if you happen to fall into that category, for once, there is something you can do about it...
