1Password for iOS gains quick vault switcher, Touch ID and Apple Watch updates and more

1Password, the popular password manager for iOS, OS X and Windows by developer AgileBits, today received a nice little update in the App Store which bumped the app to version 5.5 and brought out a couple notable improvements.

In addition to a brand new quick vault switcher, 1Password 5.5 contains improvements to TouchID authentication, shared lock settings, browsing Credit Card items on your Apple Watch and other tidibts.

Developer AgileBits on Tuesday announced an update to its freemium password-management app for the iPhone and iPad, 1Password, which now includes Apple Watch compatibility.

So, what's managing passwords, secure notes and other confidential information is like on your wrist? According to developers, “it only takes a couple of taps” to retrieve your stored items such as a combination for your gym locker or garage door, look up your credit card number or even retrieve a one-time password on websites that use two-factor authentication for stronger security.

1Password for Mac gains 2-factor code generation

After releasing a massive update to its freemium iPhone and iPad password-keeping application back in January, developer AgileBits on Tuesday posted a matching update on the Mac App Store, bringing support for two-factor authentication codes and a bunch of other improvements to its 1Password for Mac utility.

In addition to two-step verification, the app has gained the ability to email and start a FaceTime Audio or Skype call by clicking numbers in the Identities section and given some existing features “a big power-up.”

Developer AgileBits on Monday refreshed its freemium password-manager utility, 1Password for iOS, with a much smarter extension that allows you to create logins and other items without switching to the main app.

1Password 5.3 is also packed with a dozen other goodies, including enhanced Dynamic Type support, a fixe for the broken Zoom Mode on the iPhone 6 Plus, a new Large Type option, tags in bubbles, the ability to switch time zones and much more.

Ladies and gentlemen, if you haven't yet experienced the greatness that is 1Password, then now is a wonderful time to jump in. That's because the well-respected password management tool has gone on sale for a limited time, and is now $34.99—30% cheaper than it normally is.

I think it's safe to say that most of us at iDB use 1Password, and I've personally used it for a number of years. Yes, there are other password management tools out there, and I have experienced many of them. That said, I can unequivocally recommend 1Password as the best tool of them all.

Available as a freemium download, 1Password 5.2 brings out a new Login Creator feature available to all users, a one-time Password tool for Pro users, a bunch of syncing improvements and several other enhancements that improve your experience.

Pocket updated with support for 1Password extension, Dynamic Type and more

Popular read-it-later service Pocket pushed out a notable update for its iOS client today, bringing the app to version 5.6.2. The update includes a number of improvements, including support for Dynamic Type and the 1Password extension.

The addition of Dynamic Type support means that text in Pocket will now reflect whatever you have set as your system font size preference. And of course 1Password extension support means users can now login to Pocket with Touch ID.

1Password 5 for OS X Yosemite released with refreshed design and more

Adding to the list of growing OS X Yosemite software updates, AgileBits posted a new version of 1Password for Mac this morning. The update, which brings the client to version 5.0, offers full support for the just-released OS upgrade, complete with refreshed design and other improvements.

Among the improvements is enhanced iCloud sync, which is faster and more reliable than ever (note: iCloud sync now requires 1Password 5 on iOS 8 and OS X Yosemite to function). Wi-Fi sync also got an upgrade, and now allows users to sync attachments with devices on the same network.

In conjunction with today's release of OS X Yosemite, AgileBits is running a 30% 0ff sale on the Mac version of its popular password manager, 1Password. The company also recently reduced its iOS app to free with in-app purchases alongside the release of iOS 8.

Although we've seen this deal on previous occasions, now is still an excellent opportunity to download 1Password, as it features a lot more than simple password saving. Not only does it store everything from passports to software licenses, but it securely syncs this information among all the devices on which you have 1Password installed.

Alternative iOS web browser iCab optimizes for iPhone 6 and iOS 8, 1Password extension and more

iCab Mobile by German developer Alexander Clauss used to be my favorite browser alternative for the iPhone and iPad. Yesterday, Clauss pushed a substantial update bringing out support for Apple's iOS 8 software and the iPhone 6 and iPhone 6 Plus “Retina HD” display sizes, along with several improvements such as Bing and Waibo search suggestions, new Bluetooth keyboard features, the ability to use 1Password or Dashlane as external password manager and more.

This update is free for existing users of iCab Mobile.

1Password updated with iPhone 6 support, Touch ID timeout improvements and more

Developer AgileBits on Monday issued 1Password 5.1 adding native display support for the iPhone 6 and iPhone 6 Plus and fixing a number of issues and oversights related to the Touch ID and PIN Code features.

This release also introduces some new capability such as the ability to add brand new tags to your items, enable or disable third-party custom keyboards within the Advanced Settings and more, while fixing “the most popular issues and crashes”.

1Password has recently gone the freemium route and now offers basic features free of charge, with advanced features available through Apple's In-App Purchases mechanism.
