In her memo, she discusses a few insights that allowed her to adapt to the Silicon Valley culture…

Microsoft will give you $650 to trade in your MacBook Air for a Surface Pro 3

Microsoft has kickstarted an aggressive sales promotion for the all-new Surface Pro 3, offering customers that trade in select MacBook Air models up to $650 towards the purchase of the tablet. In order to be eligible for the store credit, the MacBook Air must be in working order with no cracked screen or water damage. The trade-in value is then determined in store based on the condition of the notebook, alongside any documentation and accessories. Not valid online.

In order to get the maximum discount possible, the store credit must be used towards the purchase of a new Surface Pro 3. The third-generation Surface Pro tablet has a thinner and lighter build than its predecessors, with a 12-inch display that has a resolution of 2160 × 1440 pixels and 3:2 aspect ratio. The device is said to the thinnest ever to have a desktop-class Intel Core i3, i5 or i7 processor…

While we recommend exercising caution with the iOS 7.1.1 jailbreak until the dust settles, there will inevitably be some users that go ahead and upgrade anyways. If you have done so, and you are experiencing bugs or other unforeseen problems on your device, it may relate to issues with PPSync, a package that may be bundled if you use this new jailbreak tool by the Chinese team PanGu…

Aspyr game sale: Star Wars, Borderlands, Call of Duty, Civilization and more now half price

Yesterday, my colleague Joe Rossignol's well-received daily App Recap column touched briefly on a few newsworthy discounts on premium Mac games such as SimCity 4 Deluxe Edition, BioShock Infinite and Call of Duty: Black Ops.

Turns out the price drops are actually part of Aspyr's broader promotion, with additional premium titles like Star Wars games, along with Civilization V: Campaign Edition, Borderlands 2 and The Secret of Monkey Island: Special Edition, being offered half price for a limited time.

Twitter updates iPhone and iPad app with animated GIF support, #WorldCup enhancements

Last Wednesday, the micro-blogging platform Twitter started rolling out native support for animated GIFs to its mobile apps for iOS and Android, as well as to its web interface available on Twitter.com.

Initiaily, the free iPhone and iPad app didn't gain the feature at the time of the announcement as the firm needed more time to implement animated GIFs on backend side.

This morning, Twitter version 6.8 has surfaced in the App Store featuring - you guessed right - the ability to upload animated GIFs from your iPhone and iPad and view them rendered inline, right inside your timelines...

iOS 7.1.1 untethered jailbreak burns two exploits

iOS developer iH8sn0w confirms that the just released iOS 7.1.1 untethered jailbreak burns through two exploits that could have potentially been used towards an iOS 8 jailbreak. I want to emphasize the word "potentially" in that sentence, because it is fully possible that Apple would have patched the vulnerabilities before the release of iOS 8 in the first place. But now, they most certainly will.

iH8sn0w says that the only exploits burned relate to code signing and the kernel, alongside the "syslogd chown" vulnerability that was already disclosed at the Black Hat hacking conference in August. Interestingly, the jailbreak also contains code that will make it compatible with iOS 7.1.2 once the software update is publicly released, which could be as early as this Friday…

Following up on last week's release of its would-be Snapchat killer, Slingshot, and building on notable updates to Paper, Messenger and its main iOS client, the social networking behemoth Facebook today gave its neglected Pages Manager some love.

Now live in the App Store, the new Facebook Pages Manager 4.0 has a streamlined new look and a brand new app icon which feels at home in iOS 7.0 while offering several improvements such as the addition of post editing, better Page's activity and insights, replies with threaded comments and more...

As you know, OtterBox makes a myriad of smartphone cases for a living. The Fort Collins, Colorado based firm is perhaps best known for using military-grade rugged technology that offers exceptional protection for your devices in the harshest of environments.

Microsoft unfathomably removes voice message feature from remastered Skype for iPhone

If you've updated to Microsoft's five times faster Skype 5.0 for iPhone featuring a Windows Phone style interface revamp, you can no longer use the software's free voice message feature.

And rubbing salt into the wound further, a Skype community manager advised folks who need the feature to use another mobile platform.

Not only is this a huge blunder, the removal of voice messaging is inconveniencing customers with a dedicated Skype Out number...

Microsoft on Monday announced that it is bolstering its OneDrive storage plans for both free and paid users. OneDrive will now include 15 GB of free storage, more than double the previous 7 GB limit, and all versions of Office 365 will come with 1 TB of storage. Microsoft previously rolled out 1 TB of cloud storage for business customers in April.

The aggressive new pricing tiers makes OneDrive a much more competitive offering alongside iCloud, Google Drive and Dropbox…
