How to get Apple Watch-styled Lock screen notifications on your iPhone

WatchNotifications is a brand new jailbreak tweak from developer Thomas Finch, that seeks to better unify the look of notifications on Apple Watch and iPhone. It does this by mimicking the look of Apple Watch notifications on your iPhone's Lock screen.

Available for $1.00 on Cydia's BigBoss repo, if you prefer the look of the notifications on your Apple Watch, then you'll most certainly be interested in WatchNotifications.

Samsung bracing itself for another profit drop after miscalculated Galaxy S6/Edge demand

Samsung just can't catch a break.

Although Korean investors thought the flagship Galaxy S6 and Galaxy S6 Edge smartphones would turn Samsung's fortunes around, the financial freefall continued when the South Korean conglomerate said Tuesday it expected to report a decline in revenue and profits when its second-quarter results go public later this month.

As the Wall Street Journal noted today, the unfortunate development marks Samsung's seventh straight quarterly profit decline. A source attributed worse than expected results to seemingly lackluster sales of Samsung's latest flagship handsets and a gross miscalculation in demand for the Galaxy S6 versus the Galaxy S6 Edge.

Kenu Airframe portable car mount provides safer viewing for iPhone 6

There are a few alternatives to unsightly (and in some states, illegally) dashboard mounts that make it possible for you to experience safer viewing of your iPhone 6 in your car. The vent mount is one of them.

Kenu's Airframe is a universal car mount that is small enough to fit in your pocket, but designed to support your iPhone 6 while it sits in your air vent. So, you can still see what's on screen without having to mount it to your dashboard, or even worse, look down.

Nella lets you customize the Cydia install interface

Another day, another new Cydia customization tweak. I guess this will continue to be the new trend for the foreseeable future, not that I'm complaining at all.

It's great to have tweaks that can finally customize Cydia without jumping through a ton of hoops. Nella is the latest such tweak. It lets you customize the colors of the installation interface background and buttons for a truly unique look.

Infuse 3.4 is live with folders, background audio, landscape lock on iPhone and more

Infuse 3.4 makes it easy to organize your videos using folders, delete ones you no longer need from the ticket view, continue playing audio in the background after leaving the app to quickly check your email, and more.

At long last, Instagram is increasing photo resolution to a sharper 1,080-by-1,080 pixels

I love Instagram but have always had a first-world problem with its paltry photo resolution. In today's age of ultra-crisp mobile screens, 640-by-640 pixel images just don't cut it anymore. Well, it took only a couple of years but Instagram just announced that it is rolling out support for bigger, crisper images on both iOS and Android.

“We're rolling out 1080x1080 uploads (and higher-quality viewing) for Instagram on iOS and Android,” Instagram co-founder Mike Krieger wrote in a tweet today.

The company's iPhone application wasn't updated today with support for uploading and viewing crisper photos so it's likely a silent update on Instagram's servers. The official company blog did not share details about the sharper photography experience at post time.

TaiG releases version 2.3.1 beta to include latest Cydia update

In an interesting move, the folks over at TaiG have released a new version of their iOS 8.4 jailbreak tool for Windows, but have labeled it as a beta. Version 2.3.1 beta incorporates the latest version of Cydia, version 1.1.20, and that's about all.

According to the change log, no other changes were implemented into the TaiG tool outside of the Cydia update. For such a small change, it's weird that they've labeled it as being a beta, but maybe this will become a new trend going forward until they have enough successful testers to deem it a stable release.

Microsoft’s new opinion-gathering app removes the friction around event planning

Microsoft has released a brand new iPhone and iPad application in the App Store. Called Tossup, it was designed to make event planning and opinion-gathering a cinch by basically collecting answers from your friends to any questions you pose to them.

You can present people with a quick Yes/No poll, ask them to find and pick a restaurant, to agree on when to meet, invite them to extend the opinion about any topic and more.

Amazon launches dedicated iOS app for its Cloud Drive service

Online retail giant Amazon on Monday launched a brand new application in the App Store to give iPhone and iPad owners a quick way to access their documents, spreadsheets, music, photos and videos stored in Cloud Drive, Amazon's storage locker in the cloud.

The new app, called Amazon Cloud Drive, is available at no charge in the App Store. For the uninitiated, Amazon's Cloud Drive service offers you a choice between unlimited storage for your photos in exchange for twelve bucks per year, or $60 per year for an Unlimited Everything plan.

A free 90-day trial of Cloud Drive is available here.

Skype for iPhone updated with location sharing

Skype for iPhone has picked up the ability to share a location with others in its latest update in the App Store.

The Microsoft-owned VoIP program was bumped to version 5.14 Monday to make it trivial to share your current geographical location, or your favorite place, with friends and family using the paperclip icon in the chat window. Moreover, this edition of Skype introduces unspecified improvements.

The new version of Skype arrived hot on the heels of a recent update which brought out handy web link previews in the chat window and replying with dictation on Apple Watch.

iPhone 6s is 0.2mm thicker than iPhone 6, leaked industrial design diagram indicates

Apple's next-generation iPhone 6s should measure 7.1mm deep, a 0.2 millimeter increase versus the current-generation iPhone 6, which measures 6.9mm deep. If true, the 4.7-inch iPhone 6s will have the exact same thickness as the 5.5-inch iPhone 6 Plus, according to a purported schematic leaked Monday to Engadget Japan by a reliable source in the Chinese supply chain.

KGI Securities' analyst Ming-Chi Kuo previously said that an imperceptible increase in thickness was necessary to accommodate Apple's implementation of force sensing on the iPhone 6s and iPhone 6s Plus's screen.
