Let’s Talk iOS 215: Keeping tabs on my tabs

Cody can't help but talk about Black Friday, because deals. Sebastien goes over the benefits of using 1Password over iCloud Keychain. They both talk about following the news via RSS vs Twitter. Finally, Cody has a new game him and 280,000 other people like to play.

Erie adds haptic feedback to your iPhone’s button presses

One of the things we see a lot of in the jailbreak community are tweaks that bring haptic feedback to the iPhone, and a new free release called Erie by iOS developer Sniper_GER follows in these footsteps.

While most tweaks along these lines bring haptic feedback by way of screen taps, Erie takes a different approach by imposing haptic feedback whenever you press a button on your device.

This tweak lets you spoof your Status Bar’s carrier and signal information

When I first started jailbreaking many years ago, it seemed like tweaks for modifying the carrier details in the Status Bar were a hot commodity. Given just how much times have changed, you really don’t see tweaks like the classics anymore.

The new Signal jailbreak tweak by iOS developer Sniper_GER is a blast from the past, as it lets you spoof the Status Bar’s cellular information on any jailbroken device whether you have service or not.

New series of iPhone X ads feature Animoji and Face ID

Now that iPhone X shipping times have stabilized thanks to the end of the production delays, Apple has rolled out four new ads for the device. Three of them feature Face ID, and the last features my new favorite YouTube genre, Animoji Karaoke.

There has been quite the litany of concerns regarding Face ID, and these latest ads aim to dispel them, as well as highlight the features exclusive to the iPhone X.

It quells worries about whether Face ID will work in the dark and if it will work with different facial changes (like different hair, glasses, makeup, etc). The third video on Face ID shows off all the different ways to use it, such as using Apple Pay and entering passwords.

The benefits of using 1Password over iCloud Keychain

In a recent episode of Let's Talk iOS, Cody and I discussed (again) our use of 1Password and iCloud Keychain to handle passwords on iOS and Mac. This conversation generated many comments from listeners who were wondering what the advantages of using 1Password instead of iCloud Keychain are.
