Jailbreak Tweaks to check out

The jailbreak community hasn’t missed a beat since the Electra Team released its Electra1131 jailbreak tool. That said, we’ve seen several exciting jailbreak tweak releases.

This weekly roundup will encompass all the jailbreak tweaks released from August 27th to September 2nd. As usual, we’ll kick things off by talking about our favorite releases first and outline the rest afterward.

Like every Sunday, we get to take a look at some of the most popular posts that were published on iDB during the week that just ended. Whether it is a news item, a new jailbreak tweak, a tutorial, or an app review, we sum it all up in one convenient place for you.

ColorFlow 4 brings album artwork-centric color schemes to iOS 11’s Now Playing interface

A handful of jailbreak tweaks have been released in recent memory that colorize the Now Playing interface in iOS 11, but one of the newest is ColorFlow 4 (iOS 11) by iOS developer David Goldman.

With ColorFlow 4 installed, the Now Playing interface adopts new color schemes that match the dominant colors of your album artwork. The animated GIF above depicts a few examples of how the tweak works on both the Lock screen and the native Music app.

Rollectra/SemiRestore11 update brings support for iOS 11.3-11.4.x, adds improvements

Electra is the primary way to achieve a jailbreak on iOS 11 these days, but it’s still a great idea to have an un-jailbreak tool handy just in case something goes wrong. Rollectra/SemiRestore11, released in July by former Electra Team member Pwn20wnd, quickly filled these shoes. It utilized APFS snapshots to revert any device pwned with Electra to a stock state.

As of this week, however, Pwn20wnd released an updated version of the tool. Version 1.1-2 is available both as an upgrade in Cydia and as a separate jailed package that can be side-loaded even when you aren’t in a jailbroken state.

Apple launches free iPhone 8 logic board replacement program

Apple has determined that a small number of iPhone 8 devices contain logic boards with a manufacturing defect. Phones affected with the problem may experience unexpected restarts, a frozen screen, or won't turn on. To resolve this issue, the company has implemented a logic board replacement program, which is free of charge.

Here’s your iPhone XS marketing wallpaper

Yesterday's unexpected leak (or could it be a great PR ploy on Apple's part?) of an upcoming “iPhone XS” refresh has vividly illustrated the difference between a 5.8-inch second-generation iPhone X and the 6.5-inch form factor of a brand-new iPhone XS Plus model. The leak utilizes an unreleased wallpaper depicting what appears to be one-half of an imaginary, colorful planet (looks great on OLED screens!). The planet itself fills about a half of the display, mostly vertically to a great effect, with the pitch black void of space cunningly hiding the notch.
