Veetle Brings Live Broadcast Streaming to the iPhone

I might be late on that one but I just learned from my friend Guy about a website called Veetle.com that brings live broadcast to the iPhone via Safari. There isn't much to watch yet, but South Park and Family Guy episodes are available, which really is all I need from my mobile video needs...

Oh No, My Apple Store Was Robbed!

This is the second Apple Store to be robbed in just 2 weeks. This time, it's my local Apple Store at UTC Mall in San Diego that got robbed, as reported by 9 to 5 Mac. Two guys dressed in jeans and hoodies showed up at the front of the store and smashed the glass doors. They grabbed 12 iPhones and left...

SwitcherPlus Brings Your iPhone App Switcher to the Lockscreen

SwitcherPlus is a new jailbreak application that brings your iPhone app switcher to the lockscreen. I have been trying it, and while it's still in beta, I find it very stable. As a matter of fact, I haven't had any issue at all with SwitcherPlus since I installed it.

When on your lockscreen, simply double tap the home button and the switcher will show up. You can choose to add some favorites to the switcher. These favorites will always be the first 4 apps that will appear in your switcher no matter what.

Activate FaceTime on Unofficial Carriers with MiTime

Those of you who purchased an iPhone 4 and are using it on an unofficial carrier were not able to activate FaceTime. There is now a fix for this. It's called MiTime and from what I read, it's working well.

MiTime is an app/service for activating FaceTime on phones that are operating on unofficial carriers. It should work worldwide and will use two text messages to activate. You must be able to receive an international SMS message to get activated (see here if you can receive international SMS).

An iPad Case With Integrated Bluetooth Keyboard

Please meet the KeyCase iPad Folio, an interesting iPad case that integrates a Bluetooth keyboard to the casing. It seems that the iPad really wants to be a netbook killer and it's getting closer to it. Or is it?

I love the concept, but personally, if I had to carry that stuff around, I'd rather just buy a netbook, which let me remind you, can be a much better business companion than the iPad if you need to do some real work while on the road.

At about $95, the KeyCase iPad Folio is not a bad deal though, if that's what you're looking for. It's currently out of stock but I'm sure it will be available again soon on the company's website.

Dev Team Confirms There Will Not Be a Jailbreak for iOS 4.0.2

The Dev Team confirmed earlier today in a blog post that they will not be releasing a jailbreak for iOS 4.0.2. The last jailbreak released was JailbreakMe, which allowed a quick and easy jailbreak directly from the Safari browser, taking advantage of a security hole in the way PDF documents were handled. The patch has now been fixed by Apple with the recent release of iOS 4.0.2.

Apple to Hold “Special Event” on September 1st

Surprisingly, we didn't get an invite for this, but TechCrunch did, and according to it, Apple will be holding a "special event" on September 1st, at the Yerba Buena Center for the Arts Theater in San Francisco at 10 am.

The invite comes with the image above, which strongly indicates the event will most likely be focused on music. Let the speculations go wild! What are they going to unveil? My guess is we're going to hear about the new iPod Touch with a nice Retina Display and a front-facing camera for FaceTime. Apple will also probably unveil a cloud-based version of iTunes...

Call InfoFields App Gives More Info About Who’s Calling You

Call InfoFields is a new mod that lets you add an extra contact field of your choice to be shown when you are receiving a call, (ie. Job Title, Email, URL, Address or any other field of the contact that is calling you).

To set it up, just go in the settings and select what additional field of information you would like to display when you receive a call (ie. birthday, URL, job title of the contact, etc...). Obviously this information needs to be populated by you for each contact to be displayed on your phone.

New Jailbreak App Announces Who’s Calling You

CallTell is a new jailbreak app that will tell you who's calling before your phone starts ringing. If the person who's calling is in your contacts, it will just say his name. How cool is that? The app also works with text messages and can go as far as reading the text message to you!

CallTell only works on the iPhone 3GS and the iPhone 4. All options can be enabled/disabled within the Settings.app.

You can download CallTell from Cydia for $1.99. Tell us what you think about this app if you download it.

A Unique Hand Engraved iPhone

It only took 8 hours for this guy to hand engrave the bottom of his iPhone bezel.

You can only imagine how long it would take to do it all.

Engraving my iPhone is something I’ve wanted to do for quite some time now, the plain metal border was so tempting. I’ve searched the net, but haven’t yet found any hand engraved iPhones. There are a lot of laser engraved ones and cases, but to me laser engraving is not really a true engraving. So someone must start with the handmade.

For starters I engraved the bottom part of it, so when I did screw up, it wouldn’t be too noticeable. The metal seems to be some kind of stainless steel and a very tough one too. I broke many-many graver tips during the process and at least 1/4th of the time was spent on re-sharpening the gravers.

Fraud Warning: Your iTunes Account Might Be at Risk

A couple of months ago we reported that the App Store had been hacked, resulting in a massive fraud whereby hackers would get into people's iTunes accounts and buy their own apps. At the time, Apple issued a weak statement, the App Store got hacked again, and we never heard anything about this matter until today.

A TechCrunch article reveals what seems to be a major security flaw in iTunes accounts linked to Paypal.

Spice Up Your iPhone Background Image With Video Wallpapers

There is a new mod in town. Its name is vWallpaper and it's an awesome jailbreak app that will bring video wallpaper to your iPhone homescreen. Redmond Pie has a video of it in action and I have to admit it's pretty impressive.

vWallpaper comes pre-loaded with a few video wallpapers but you can also download some new ones from within the application. Really neat!
