Can’t wait for iPhone 6? Truffol launches reversible Lightning USB cable for $10

Online retailer Truffol has launched a reversible Lightning cable for models of the iPhone, iPad, and iPods that support the connection technology. This marks the first reversible Lightning cable, meaning there is no wrong way to plug it into the USB port on your charger or computer as there is on the official cable sold by Apple.

Apple hasn't officially launched or embraced a reversible Lightning cable as of yet, but is rumored to do so when it launches the iPhone 6 in the coming weeks. Truffol is allowing you get a leg up on the Cupertino-based company for a measly $9.99.

Tim Cook and Apple show support at San Francisco Pride celebration

Apple CEO and frontman Tim Cook took the streets on behalf of Apple to support the lesbian, gay, bisexual, and transgender pride parade and celebration happening in San Francisco on Sunday.

Cook was seen in a snazzy Apple Pride t-shirt in a photo on Instagram user Daniel Soto's profile. Cook's company is one of the many corporate sponsors for the San Francisco Pride event that has taken place this weekend, and what better to have the CEO come and show support. 

Verizon announces VoLTE rollout for later this year, iOS 8 expected to support it

Verizon Wireless has announced the roll out of its Voice over LTE technology - better known as VoLTE - will begin across the US later this year.

The new technology will move Verizon's LTE service past data and will offer an HD Voice experience, using the AMR-wideband standard. "This solution provides the best voice quality available now and allows for future interoperability with others using the standard," Verizon claims. 

Apple planning new flagship Manhattan Store in retail push

Apple is getting serious about its retail expansion, amongst record sales. The latest Apple Store murmurs are a new flagship store in New York City - an area where it's already represented well in the streets.

Apple Store tracking blog "ifo Apple Store" is reporting a building permit has been issued for a greater Apple presence on New York City’s Upper East Side. The permits are dated May 15th and cover soil testing underneath the structure, and demolition of the building’s interior, costing $20,000 and $60,000 respectively.

Microsoft announces Surface Pro 3 to take on MacBook Air with thinner, lighter build

Microsoft has announced the Surface Pro 3 at a media event in New York City on Tuesday, setting its sights on not only Apple's iPad, but the MacBook Air as well.

The Surface Pro 3 busts past the 10.1-inch norm to a 12-inch display with a 2160 x 1440 resolution. It's not a 16:9 aspect ratio, but rather a more comfortable 3:2 aspect ratio with a HD screen - a first for Microsoft's Surface line. But the thinness and lightness is where Microsoft is hoping to sell you. 

Microsoft schedules Surface press event to unveil iPad mini competitor

Microsoft has sent invitations to members of the media for an event on May 20 where it's expected to unveil a smaller version of the Surface tablet.

The Surface branding and "join us for a small gathering" tagline hint smaller hardware will be the main attraction at the event. The tablet is expected to be called the Surface Mini, and could help fill a gap in Microsoft's tablet line-up to help it go after both the iPad Air and iPad mini after more than a year of sluggish tablet sales.

Apple stock crosses $600 per share for the first time since 2012

Investors are liking Apple's direction lately, pushing the stock to $600 per share for the first time since 2012. Shares of AAPL closed at $600.96 each on Monday, a nice hike up from the under $400 price the stock was sitting at in April 2013.

Apple's shares were up more than $8 for the day to reach the 52 week high, bringing the Cupertino-based company's market capitalization to a hefty $517.65 billion.

Angela Ahrendts starts role as SVP of Retail and Online Stores at Apple

Angela Ahrendts has left fashion retailer Burberry and started her new position at Apple as the Senior Vice President of Retail and Online Stores, according to an update to Apple's Executive Profiles website on Friday.

Tim Cook, CEO of Apple, confirmed on the company's quarterly earnings call last week that Ahrendts would be starting at the Cupertino-based company this week, following now-false rumors she would be staying on at Burberry until June.

Samsung planning health-related announcement days before Apple’s WWDC

Samsung has announced a media event "around health" set to take place on May 28 in San Francisco. The invitation came from the company's sensors and components unit, rather than its devices unit, so the announcement could be centered around next-generation tech for Android and Tizen-based devices, rather than a new Gear Fit 2.

The event is notable given Apple is holding its Worldwide Developer Conference on June 2, also in San Francisco. Apple is rumored to have some big health-centered announcements at its Conference keynote, and it looks like Samsung is trying to get a leg up.
