Apple seeds updated watchOS 5 beta to developers

Apple on Monday issued a new version of its watchOS 5 beta. The release comes a week after Apple pulled the beta due to reports that the software update was bricking some Apple Watch models, and is available to all registered developers who have the appropriate configuration profile installed.

Video: hands-on with iOS 12 on iPhone and iPad

Apple on Monday unveiled the next major software update for its iPhones and iPads: iOS 12. The update brings about a number of new features and improvements, including faster performance, group FaceTime calling with up to 32 people, tons of new stuff for AR and Animoji, and much more.

2018 Apple Design Award winners announced

Apple introduces new colors for Apple Watch bands and iPhone cases

In addition to all of the software announcements made today, Apple also introduced new colorways for its line of Apple Watch bands and iPhone cases. watchOS 5 won’t support original Apple Watch

Heads up for folks with an original (Series 0) Apple Watch. The watchOS 5 update, which Apple announced earlier today during its WWDC keynote, will not support the older hardware. Everyone else is safe though: watchOS 5 supports Series 1, 2 and 3 models.

Version 5 of Apple's wearable platform is a sizable update. It includes a new Competitions feature, which allows you to challenge your friends to 7-day fitness competitions, a new Walk-Talkies communications app, support for the Podcasts app, and much more.

The original Apple Watch was first unveiled on September 9, 2014, and it wasn't available to buy until April 2015. A device losing update support after just 3 years is uncharacteristic of Apple, and wow do we feel bad for owners of those $10K+ Edition Watches.
