I Am The iPhone Killer! [Infographic]

The iPhone has undoubtedly had a profound impact on the smartphone market since its release in 2007. The idea of a large, touchscreen-based phone wasn't that popular before the original iPhone, and the general design of mobile handsets has drastically altered since Apple set the bar in the mobile space years ago.

Plenty of iPhone "killers" have come and gone. Devices with copied features and designs can never really hold weight next to the original.

This clever little cartoon/infographic depicts what happens when the iPhone killers meet...

Today is Apple’s 35th Birthday!

Today marks Apple Inc's 35th birthday! On April 1, 1976, Steve Jobs, Steve Wozniak and Ronald Wayne formed Apple Computers. The company was formed so that Steve Wozniak could sell his hand-built Apple I personal computer kits.

It's hard to believe that the technology juggernaut now known as Apple Inc. was once operated out of a garage. Who would have known that, 35 years later, Apple would be second to only Exxon Mobil in market value...

Twitter for iPhone Removes the Quick Bar

Remember when the official Twitter app added the Dick.. er.. Quick Bar in a recent update? The Quick Bar was Twitter's attempt at "sharing information" with users. It was also a clever revenue option for displaying promoted tweets.

Twitter has finally killed the Quick Bar. After a brief and painful run, the Quick Bar has been removed from the official Twitter app in a new update.

How to Speed Up Web Apps on the iPhone

In iOS 4.3, Apple has supposedly limited the speed of web apps added to the iPhone's home screen. Develepors and users have been reporting that web-based applications launched from an independent springboard icon are loading more than 2x slower than sites opened in Mobile Safari.

Meaning that, web apps/favorite sites launched from an icon shortcut aren't given any access to the Nitro Javascript engine that's baked into iOS 4.3. If Apple has intentionally hampered the performance of web apps in 4.3, such a move could been seen as a subliminal push to get people downloading more App Store apps.

If you've noticed lagging performance with your favorite web apps in iOS 4.3, there's an easy way to take advantage of Mobile Safari's full resources...

iPhone 3GS Running Untethered Jailbreak on iOS 4.3.1 with Sn0wbreeze Beta [Video]

The Windows jailbreak tool, Sn0wbreeze, was recently updated to perform a tethered jailbreak on iOS 4.3.1. We told you about the newest beta release a couple days ago, and many of you have successfully been able to jailbreak your iPhone on 4.3.1.

The biggest downer with the current Sn0wbreeze beta is that it's a tethered jailbreak, and we've recommended holding off on iOS 4.3.1 until an untethered solution is released from the Dev Team.

To our surprise, an iDB reader sent us a video of his iPhone 3GS running an untethered jailbreak after using the latest Sn0wbreeze 2.4b1...

Apple Hasn’t Even Ordered iPhone 5 Parts Yet

The latest in iPhone 5 rumors comes from a Chinese supply chain. Macotakara.jp has claimed that Apple hasn't even started ordering components for its next gen iPhone.

We've already heard that the iPhone 5 probably won't be announced this June at WWDC, and that the release date could be pushed back to a fall 2011 date. If Apple hasn't ordered parts for the iPhone 5, there's almost no way that we'll see a new iPhone this year...

Will the iPhone 5 Have LTE?

Recent rumors have said that Apple won't be releasing the iPhone 5 at WWDC in June. TechCrunch reported that iOS 5's release will be pushed back to the fall, and that we won't see any hardware announcements from Apple this summer.

If this report is true, this year will look very different for Apple. The company's product cycle has always been fairly predictable, but circumstances surrounding the iPhone point to an unusual set of releases this year.

Specifically, consensus seems to be that LTE could be playing a role in Apple's decisions surrounding the next iPhone...

iOS 5 to Have Deep Integration with Voice Search

We recently told you about the rumor that Apple won't unveil iOS 5 until later this fall. Apple announced the details about this year's WWDC event, and multiple sources are claiming that we won't see any hardware announcements from Apple this summer.

On the iOS 5 front, rumors suggest that Apple will be heavily integrating voice commands into the next major iteration of iOS. The focus looks to be on voice search, considering Apple bought a little voice search company called Siri one year ago...

The Best App Store Review You’ve Ever Read

There are plenty of reasons for develepors to hate the iTunes review system. The problem mainly lies in the way that uninformed or biased reviews can negatively affect the success of a good app.

If you search for some of your favorite apps in iTunes and look at the reviews, chances are you'll see a lot of 1-star "sucks" or 5-star "this is awesome" comments. If you're lucky, you might stumble across a review that's half as good as a recent 5-star rating for Color...
