ResSet16 is a display resolution changer app for MacDirtyCow-susceptible devices on iOS 15.0-16.1.2

If you’ve ever looked at your iPhone or iPad’s display and thought to yourself, “man, I wish I could play with the resolution settings like I can on almost any desktop computer,” then you might be in luck.

While no such setting exists on the iPhone or iPad natively, iOS developer sourcelocation has released a new and free add-on for the MacDirtyCow exploit on iOS & iPadOS 15.0-16.1.2 devices dubbed ResSet16 that gives users more resumption options for their mobile devices.

Obviously, changing the resolution on your iPhone or iPad isn’t generally recommended because Apple has already scaled the resolution to best suit your particular device’s display. But for those who can’t resist, the ResSet16 app offers tons of flexibility.

The concept of changing iPhone and iPad display resolution isn’t new. It first materialized in the form of jailbreak tweaks, but more recently, surfaced in the form of a TrollStore compatible app.

In the /r/jailbreak release thread, some have suggested using Pro Max-esque resolutions on smaller Pro devices for a more aesthetically pleasing effect, however we advise that most other resolutions will likely appear somewhat goofy, as shown:

Users should also be advised that because apps are designed to work best with certain resolutions, changing your handset’s resolution could impact the usability of said apps. Not all apps will be affected.

If you’re interested in giving ResSet16 a try, then you can download it for free from the developer’s GitHub repository. Once downloaded, you can sideload the app to any MacDirtyCow-compatible device and enjoy using the features it provides.
