Popular iCleaner junk file removal tool for jailbroken devices picks up iOS 16 support

Just under a couple of weeks ago, we reported on a beta update for the popular iCleaner and iCleaner Pro junk file removal applications for jailbroken devices and how it had received preliminary iOS & iPadOS 15 support in addition to a slew of other improvements.

The update begged the question: what about iOS 16 support on devices that can be jailbroken (currently only with palera1n)? And today, project developer Ivano Bilenchi officially responded to that question.

A new beta build — version 7.10.0~beta2 — was released today that officially marks iOS & iPadOS 16 as compatible. This means that even those devices can now download and use iCleaner or iCleaner Pro to remove junk files that may be hogging valuable storage space on the host device.

In addition to marking iOS & iPadOS 16 compatibility, the change log for this particular version of iCleaner notes improved estimations of freed space when analyzing and cleaning up with the Test Mode enabled, and addressing a problem where Safari may not remember which tabs are open until the device is rebooted.

The types of junk files that iCleaner and iCleaner Pro can remove from one’s device to reclaim storage space include, but aren’t limited to:

  • Message attachments
  • Safari cookies, browsing history, and caches
  • Application caches, temporary files, cookies, and snapshots
  • OTA software update files
  • Battery usage data archives
  • Unused jailbreak package dependencies
  • Log files
  • Cache files
  • Temporary files
  • And so much more…

The latest iCleaner and iCleaner Pro beta release is available from Ivano Bilenchi’s beta repository via your favorite package manager app. Those not already taking advantage of that repository can add it to their package manager by using the URL provided below:
