SpringHooker jailbreak tweak offers a free palette of settings for customizing SpringBoard

We love a good general-purpose jailbreak tweak, which is why a free release called SpringHooker by iOS developer zSaaiq has been on our radar since the developer announced it in a post shared to /r/jailbreak.

Albeit not as comprehensive as an all-in-one jailbreak tweak such as Genesis 3 or Lynx 2, SpringHooker is a free download and provides a decent swath of options for end users to apply to their jailbroken handset.

Once installed, SpringHooker adds a dedicated preference pane to the Settings app where users can configure a myriad of different options to their liking:

Among the different things you can do here are:

  • Enable or disable SpringHooker on demand
  • Enable and configure a custom App Switcher corner radius
  • Disable Lock Screen scrolling
  • Disable the Lock Screen Camera access
  • Disable the Lock Screen Today view
  • Disable the EU volume limit
  • Disable display wake if music is playing and the volume button is pressed
  • Disable display wake if a message is received
  • Disable the icon fly-in effect when unlocking your device
  • Disable the Clock animation
  • Remove the Flashlight and/or Camera shortcuts from the Lock Screen
  • Disable auto-dimming on the Lock Screen
  • Enable and configure an idle timer for when music is playing
  • Enable and configure an idle timer for when messages are present
  • Enable and configure an idle timer for when messages aren’t present
  • Respring your device to save all changes

As you might come to expect from a free offering, there aren’t as many options as many of the paid tweaks you can already download for customizing your device, but we do think there are a fair number of settings available for a free release, which means this could be worth checking out.

If you’re interested in giving SpringHooker a try, then you can download it for free from zSaaiq’s personal repository via your favorite package manager app. The tweak supports jailbroken iOS 15 and 16 devices.

Anyone that isn’t already using zSaaiq’s personal repository can add it to their package manager app of choice by using the URL provided below:
