There’s a new app in town from Ukrainian developper MacPaw, called CleanMy®Phone, that makes it a cinch to free up storage space on your iPhone and iPad lost to duplicates, screen recordings and other photo clutter.
Reducing the cruft clogging up your iPhone storage is a chore. Even though iOS features like finding duplicates in the Photos app are helpful, storage management on mobile is too cumbersome and time-consuming for the average user.
CleanMy®Phone helps clean up toue iPhone and iPad storage by identifying and deleting not only duplicates but also similar pictures, blury shots and more.
Artificial intelligence (AI) analyzes your camera roll and suggests the images to remove while organizing your remaining photos into neat categories.

In the initial version, CleanMy®Phone offers features for photo decluttering, organizing image libraries and testing your network for optimal performance.
Declutter
This module will scan your Photos library and mark items like duplicates, blurred images, screen recordings, TikTok videos “and other superfluous items” for deletion. The app allows you to manually exclude certain items from the process. Don’t worry, CleanMy®Phone won’t delete anything without your explicit approval.
You can also move some of your sensitive photos from the Photos app into CleanMy®Phone to keep them safe and synced with iCloud.
Organize
With your photo junk taken care of, switch to the Organize tab to further optimize your image library. This uses AI to organize pictures into themed folders based on what’s on them, ranging from Travel, Pets and Food to Portraits and Text.
“This smart organization allows users to find specific images easily while highlighting the best copies among similar images,” MacPaw explains.
Network
CleanMy®Phone offers network speed testing similar to the free SpeedTest app by Ookla. Select the Network tab, touch Test and wait until the app has finished testing the upload download speeds for your Wi-Fi connection.
Like the rest of the app, the network-testing module is superbly designed. Your Wi-Fi speeds are clearly presented in a heavier typeface, and I especially like suggestions for what you can do with your current speed.
My internet connection fared pretty well on the test, with about 100Mbps for uplink and downlink each, which the app classified as suitable for browsing, online gaming, video calling, media streaming, messaging and chatting.

An ambitious undertaking
I’ve been a longtime user of CleanMyMac, MacPaw’s storage cleaner, which is among the best Mac utilities available for any type of user. CleanMy®Phone starts as a duplicate photo finder, but MacPaw plans to turn it into a versatile, all-encompassing storage cleaner for iPhone and iPad over time.
Rostislav Bogdanov, MacPaw’s product manager for CleanMy®Phone, says they envisioned CleanMy®Phone as the ultimate all-in-one care app. I think it already shows a lot of potential, and I encourage you to try it out.
Where did Gemini Photos go?
CleanMy®Phone has evolved from Gemini Photos, MacPaw’s simple iPhone and iPad app designed to clean up your photo mess. Gemini Photos has become a part of CleanMy®Phone, which will replace your Gemini Photos installation after you update. MacPaw will no longer offer Gemini Photos as a standalone app going forward.

CleanMy®Phone can be downloaded from the App Store for free but requires a $25/year subscription. The app offers a free 3-day trial to test all the features before purchasing. The app requires iOS or iPadOS 16.0 or later.

CleanMy®Phone is also available on Setapp, MacPaw’s subscription service that offers access to high-quality Mac and iPhone utilities in exchange for $10/month.
MacPaw has pledged to offer Setapp Mobile, an alternative app store, to its customers in the European Union in April. With it, you’ll be able to install apps on the Setapp service directly, bypassing the current QR code scanning system.
