TrollStore perma-signing utility updated to version 2.0.13 with minor improvements

TrollStore, the popular perma-signing utility by iOS developer Lars Fröder, received an important update early Sunday morning that brought the utility up to version 2.0.13.

Lars Fröder announces TrollStore version 2.0.13 on X.

Fröder announced the updated TrollStore build in a post shared to X (formerly Twitter), and according to the GitHub page, this release was made possible by contributions from iOS developers alfiecg24 and dhinakg and contains the following changes:

– Don’t apply CoreTrust bypass to DWARF MachO files
– Add skip-uicache option to the TrollStore root helper
– Apply CoreTrust bypass using OpenSSL instead of a template signature blob (contributed by dhinakg)

End users are unlikely to discern any major differences here as a lot of the changes are happening under the hood and TrollStore still operates like it always has, but it’s still an important update that all users – new and existing – should use.

Existing TrollStore users can quickly and easily update to the latest version by using the utility’s built-in over-the-air (OTA) updating mechanism, as shown below. When tapped, the newest version will be downloaded and applied. The device will appear to reboot as it applies the latest changes:

New and prospective users can acquire the latest version of TrollStore from the project’s GitHub page and follow one of our step-by-step tutorials below to install it:

Because TrollStore perma-signs apps, it works a lot like sideloading except that you don’t need to provide an Apple ID, it works on your device without a computer, and those apps become signed permanently instead of requiring re-signing every seven days.

TrollStore works with iOS & iPadOS versions 14.0 beta 2 – 16.6.1, 16.7 RC (20H18), and 17.0 only, as these are the firmware susceptible to the CoreTrust bug. There is no installation method for iOS & iPadOS 17.0 at this time, but that could change in the future. You don’t need a jailbreak to use TrollStore, but TrollStore can help make using jailbreaks easier by keeping them signed indefinitely.
