The lightweight accessory slips into any bag or purse. With it, you can charge up to four USB-C devices like your Mac laptop, iPhone, AirPods and Apple Watch.

It’s powerful enough to recharge high-powered laptops like Apple’s 16-inch MacBook Pro and Lenovo’s Legion Slim 7i and Legion 7i.

For those who travel a lot, a versatile power adapter with multiple ports makes a big difference. You could also use this charger to power your devices at home or work.

Gallium Nitride (GaN) technology makes chargers safer to use than the traditional bulky non-GaN ones. For example, the 145 USB-C 4-Port GaN Travel Charger dissipates less heat and prevents heat from reaching the exterior.

Power sharing is the name of the game

Apple uses the USB Power Delivery protocol to support features like fast charging on its devices. The same protocol enables this charger to automatically adjust wattage when new devices are detected. This is called power sharing.

Like all multi-port chargers, you don’t get up to 145 watts of power on every USB-C port. Instead, the total power output of 145W is shared across the available ports, depending on what device is plugged into each port (or not).

Two of the four USB-C ports take advantage of the latest Power Delivery 3.1 protocol. They can deliver up to 140W of power individually but not simultaneously.

As for the other two ports, those are based on the previous Power Delivery 3.0 protocol and can provide up to 45W when one port is in use at a time.

Meanwhile, Satechi’s Stand & Hub for Mac Studio and Mac mini has been updated with support for NVMe and M.2 SATA SSDs, faster USB Gen 2 ports and support for backing up Macs to the SSD with Time Machine.
