Satechi’s new 3-in-1 and 2-in-1 stands charge an iPhone wirelessly at 15W via Qi2 or MagSafe. They fold in half, making them ideal for travel and iOS 17’s StandBy feature.
At the Consumer Electronics Show today, Satechi unveiled new multi-device charging stands—one supporting two devices simultaneously and the other three.
These are Satechi’s first chargers that feature support for the latest Qi2 standard. Don’t worry; they also work with Apple’s 15W magnetic charging standard, MagSafe. Yes, your iPhone supports both MagSafe and Qi2. With Qi2, you get twice the charging speed as opposed to the 7.5W limitation of the previous Qi standard.
Like all Satechi products, these chargers are made from aluminum and designed to match your Apple lifestyle. They’ll be available for purchase later in 2024.
Satechi unveils 2-in-1 and 3-in-1 foldable Qi2 chargers
These chargers are foldable, which makes them especially convenient for frequent travelers because they slip into any tote bag, backpack, or carry-on.
Both stands have a charging pad at the base to charge your AirPods at 5W. Additionally, they offer a magnetic charging puck that supports both Qi2 and MagSafe, so you can wirelessly charge your iPhone or an Android phone.
Satechi says these accessories sport a scratch-resistant base made from vegan leather and a soft silicone charging puck to protect your phone from damage and prevent the puck from cracking over time.
They also help showcase iOS 17’s StandBy Mode, which turns your iPhone into a nightstand or a smart display while charging in landscape orientation.
The 3-in-1 also offers an Apple Watch charger
The 3-in-1 features an additional charger integrated into the back of the stand. Simply open it and rest your Apple Watch on top to start charging.
It supports fast charging and is available on all Apple Watch Ultra models and the Apple Watch Series 7 and later. As a nice touch, the 3-in-1 ships with a 45W USB-C power adapter and two travel adapters at no additional cost. You can use this power adapter separately to charge your iPhone 15 and other USB-C devices.
Qi2 offers MagSafe-like features
Apple has contributed MagSafe to the Qi2 specification, including MagSafe’s magnetic alignment. As a result, Qi2 accessories are capable of 15W charging with proper coil alignment—like MagSafe, only cheaper.
In other words, Apple users can finally charge their iPhones twice as fast as before as long as they have a Qi2 charger and their iPhone runs at least iOS 17.2, which enables support for Qi2 chargers on the iPhone 13 and later models.
Pricing and availability
Satechi will offer the 3-in-1 and 2-in-1 Foldable Qi2 Wireless Charging Stand in the second quarter of 2024, respectively priced at $130 and $80.
