Waterfield Designs, San Francisco-based makers of premium bags and cases, kicked 2024 off by launching a backpack created with technology users in mind.
The new Tech Folio Backpack, available starting today from the Waterfield web store, features dedicated gear compartment for all your accessories, including a hidden slot for storing your AirTag. Apple users will want to slip their item tracker inside this slot in order to track their backpack should they happen to lose or misplace it.
The main compartment has enough space for a 16-inch MacBook Pro and a tablet like Apple’s 12.9-inch iPad Pro. Or, you can use it for a change of clothes instead.
Waterfield Designs launches the new Tech Folio Backpack
The main compartment is equipped with handy padded pockets that will keep your notebook and tablet in pristine condition, even without a case.
Aside from the AirTag slot, there’s also a dedicated key tether. The inside is lined with Waterfield’s trademark bright material in a gold color finish for easy visibility.
The accessory compartment stretches the entire length, and provides you with as many as eleven pockets for organizing accessories.
These pockets are of various sizes to fit everything from tiny SD cards and cables to bulky adapters, chargers, and external storage devices like hard drives and SSDs.
This entire section unzips on three sides and lies flat on a desk for quick access to your accessories. On the opposite side are two open pockets with quick-release magnets, along with a water bottle sash that tucks away when not in use.
A stylish laptop backpack with thoughtful perks
Like all Waterfield products, the ergonomic backpack is very stylish and will turn heads. It’s handcrafted from quality materials, including premium full-grain leather and water-resistant 1680 denier ballistic nylon or waxed canvas. Like other Waterfield bags, the Tech Folio Backpack also features YKK waterproof zippers.
I’ve tried Waterfield products before, and using this backpack should be a joy, thanks to some thoughtful solutions found on other Waterfield products.
For example, the straps are padded with neoprene, which is a rubber-like material with insulating properties. The straps are lined with moisture-wicking mesh. A leather-wrapped handle for briefcase-style carry will feel great in your hand. There’s also a wheeled suitcase passthrough for those who need it.
“I don’t know of any other professional backpack with such a well-designed, dedicated gear compartment that can organize so many accessories,” said company owner Gary Waterfield in the press release.
The company says it designed the Tech Folio Backpack for all types of users who want to carry their technology wherever they go, be it creators, developers, gamers, DJs, IT consultants, video editors, tech enthusiasts, etc.
Pricing and availability
If you’re interested, the Tech Folio Backpack is available for $379 from the WaterField Designs web store. It comes in black or chocolate leather and waxed canvas with your choice of chocolate or grizzly full-grain leather.
