PureKFD package manager app gets preliminary support for the puaf_landa method

Not only did the Misaka package manager app receive an update on Monday with support for the new puaf_landa method for the kernel file descriptor (kfd) exploit, but so too did some of Misaka’s competitors.

PureKFD, another package manager app that makes use of the MacDirtyCow and kfd exploits, received an updated build of beta 5 on Monday that appears to incorporate support for the puaf_landa method.

The PureKFD team announced the latest update to their project via the PureKFD Discord server, noting that it added support for iOS & iPadOS versions 16.5.1 and 16.6+ (excluding any version of iOS or iPadOS 17.x).

The team added that currently, users can contribute to the cause by providing their offsets if their device and firmware isn’t already listed as a supported device.

If you’re already a PureKFD user, then you can download and install the latest build over your existing installation to overwrite it with the latest changes. Non-users can get started with PureKFD right now on supported device and firmware combinations by using either of the tutorials below:

For those unaware of what PureKFD is, it’s effectively a tool to install hacks and add-ons on compatible devices that are vulnerable to the MacDirtyCow (iOS & iPadOS 15.0-16.1.2) and kfd (iOS & iPadOS 15.0-16.x) exploits.

These add-ons work a lot like jailbreak tweaks, except that they don’t require a jailbreak to be used. You can, however, use these add-ons on jailbroken devices alongside jailbreak tweaks if you wish.

PureKFD is available from the project’s GitHub page, where you can learn more about it. You can also join the project’s Discord server to join the conversation about it.
