Arriving as part of Tesla’s free holiday software update, the Apple Podcasts app will be available on the Model S, 3, X, Y, as well as the company’s new Cybertruck. The app was leaked by the NotATeslaApp account on X, formerly Twitter.

The app will be available in 47 countries and regions, spanning 14 languages. A free software update will launch next week. Streaming episodes over the vehicle’s cellular connection will require a Premium Connectivity subscription from Tesla.

Apple Podcasts is coming to Tesla vehicles

On first run, the user will need to scan a QR code using their iPhone to open a webpage and sign in with their Apple ID to authorize Tesla to use Apple Podcasts.

Apple Podcasts will be accessible from the App Launcher and the My Apps dock for quicker access. The app will integrate with Tesla’s Media Player and the unified search feature to allow drivers to find specific shows, topics, etc.

The app supports all of the major sections found in the iPhone, iPad and Mac versions, including the Listen Now, Browse, and Charts tabs, as well as charts for the Top Shows, Top Episodes, Latest Episodes and Recently Played Episodes.

The Tesla version will sync playback position so drivers can continue where they left off on another device. The Up Next queue will work, too, enabling users to view suggested episodes from previously saved, followed or played shows.

Tesla likes to save surprises for Apple users for its end-of-year holiday updates. In 2022, for example, a holiday Tesla firmware update brought support for Apple Music to the infotainment unit of select vehicles.
