Helium is a new Status Bar widget system for TrollStore & jailbroken devices

iOS developer leminlimez has just this week released a new add-on called Helium for both TrollStore and jailbroken devices running 15 and 16 that lets users add informative widgets underneath the Status Bar.

Helium Status Bar widgets.

As noted on the project’s GitHub page, users will need to compile the app with Theos and the SDK may need to be modified to the user’s own SDK version as it’s currently built with iOS 15.0’s SDK in its current form.

Once compiled, it can be perma-signed on iOS 15.0-15.4.1 devices with TrollStore or effortlessly installed on jailbroken devices whether they’re running iOS 15 or 16. The developer has a very nice demonstration video of the UI that they shared to X (formerly Twitter) that you may want to check out.

When you launch the Helium app for the first time, you will find an interface where you can enable or disable the heads-up display (HUD) on demand and choose the data update interval:

Helium settings.

You can then go over to the Customize tab to choose your widgets and change them up how you see fit:

Helium customizations.

Currently, the list of available widgets include the following:

  • Date display
  • Network speed
  • Device temperature
  • Battery details

It looks like users can currently use up to three of those widgets at one time.

The developer says on the GitHub page that more widgets are planned for upcoming updates, so even if you don’t see something that catches your eye right now, that could surely change down the road.

Currently, there are some known issues such as not adapting to the color of the Status Bar as the color changes (it always stays white), and scaling may appear incorrect on Home Button-equipped devices. Having said that, it looks best on notched handsets.

One of my favorite parts about Helium is that it doesn’t require a jailbreak, but still works with jailbroken devices.

If you’re interested in giving Helium a try right now, then you can head over to the project’s GitHub page and follow the installation instructions to get started.
