Mammoth, GoLinks, ClearSpace, and other apps to check out this weekend

Welcome back to another edition of our Apps of the Week roundup, where we highlight some of our favorite recently-discovered apps and games. This week we have some great picks, including a comprehensive Mastodon client, an app for quickly saving and sharing info, and an app to help you eliminate compulsive phone use. And as always, we’ve selected a great game for you to check out.

Mammoth: for Mastodon

If you find yourself looking for an alternative to Elon Musk’s new Twitter world, you might want to check out this client for the social media site Mastodon. It’s called Mammoth, and it’s a very comprehensive app that allows you to do everything from sign up for a new account, to customize your profile. All of your favorite Twitter features are here: timelines, threading, images, and post-pinning. There are even custom themes!

GoLinks

GoLinks is the fastest way to access, share, and save info on the go. Stay productive and informed by connecting to apps and resources anywhere you’re working with short, memorable GoLinks you can create and access on desktop and mobile. I’ll be honest, when I picked this app, I thought it was more for personal use — like, Pocket meets Shortcuts or something. That’s clearly not the case, but I’m leaving it on here in hopes someone will still find it useful.

ClearSpace: Less Screen Time

Welcome to ClearSpace – this sounds like the kind of greeting you’d hear in a sci-fi movie about a company that erases bad memories. “Welcome to ClearSpace.” Anyway, this is actually a very clever and ambitious app that hopes to help you eliminate compulsive phone use. So you tell ClearSpace which app you want to use less, and it will run interference every time you try to use it. When you go to open that app, you will be prompted to make an intentional decision — proceed (after a deep breath), or opt out. There’s a lot more to it, but you get the idea. By the way, I just want you to know that I do understand the irony of featuring an app that aims to help you stop using apps, on a roundup post about apps.

Street Fighter Duel

Enter the world of Street Fighter like never before with the first mobile RPG game of the franchise – Street Fighter: Duel. Collect and upgrade a team of recognizable fighters and battle your way through an original story, or against friends and powerful opponents around the world. To be clear, this is not a standard Street Fighter arcade game, but an RPG with some PVP elements and all of your favorite characters from the franchise. It looks like a great game to check out this weekend!
