Nüz, Transactions, Typly, and other apps to check out this weekend

Welcome back to another edition of our Apps of the Week roundup, where we share new and interesting apps we’ve come across recently. This week we have some great picks for you including a video news platform, a simple personal finance app, and an Ai keyboard companion. And as always, we’ve selected a fun new game to check out.

Nüz

If you’re looking for a new place to get balanced, global news, Nüz might be worth checking out. Umlaut aside (I’m not sure why those dots bother me), the developers promise to deliver super-quick, super-informative, and super-balanced news to you. There are no cookies, no trackers, no adverts, and they will never sell your data. “Created by a small team trying to make the news better.”

Transactions: Finance Kit

Transactions is a simple personal finance app for reviewing charges on all of your cards. It sends you alerts in your unified inbox every time you’re charged, and from there you can tag, save, and add notes to your transactions for context or later review. There are all kinds of neat features here including a spending history map, and support for Venmo and CSV exporting. Eh, I guess that’s pretty cool.

Typly

I’m going to be honest, this last one kind of weirds me out. Typly bills itself as a “cutting edge AI keyboard” that allows you to answer messages with a single tap. It does this by having you copy the sentence or phrase you want to respond to, and then it reads your clipboard to offer response suggestions. So I guess(?) it’s not reading your actual text messages. It also has a ‘Dating’ mode, where it promises to help you “grow in women’s eyes,” which I’m sure is also totally fine. Anyways, I thought this would be a fun, quirky app to play around with this weekend. It’s Ai!

Creatures of the Deep

Here’s a unique game. It’s called Creatures of the Deep, and in it you join anglers across the globe to travel through the world’s most exotic finishing locations to search for never-before-seen fish, sea creatures, underwater treasures, and even MONSTERS. Features include over 100 sea creatures to catch, crazy anglers, local mysteries to solve, soothing soundtrack of waves and original music, and player challenges. Even if you’re not a huge fishing person, this game looks like it has enough puzzles and other stuff to keep you entertained.
